13regionalprojections_smAs we’re now well into the 2013 college baseball season, College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to Selection Monday with our latest 2013 Regional Projections.

For this week’s projections, instead of being solely compiled based on RPI like they have been done in past weeks, every aspect was taken into consideration. College Baseball Daily’s Ginger Poulson (@gingerpoulson) compiled this list after analyzing RPI, overall records, conference standings, overall talent and several other factors. If you have any questions about the projections feel free to leave a comment below or send her a tweet.

Enjoy the regional projections!

I enjoy seeing the regional projections and agree with the large majority of them. Arkansas has performed well in the high-powered SEC, but I question if their mid 40s RPI will be good enough to host a regional. I tend to think the NCAA will want to include another conference in the hosting action by using Indiana, Kansas St or South Alabama rather than Arkansas. We’ll see.

That’s a great point that I considered when selecting hosts! It really does depend on how things play out and what the selection committee decides, but great point!

You can’t pair up ASU vs. OSU – same conf.

Columbia should be sent to Fullerton and Bakersfield to UCLA in this scenario because the national seed should play the lesser of those 4 seeds.

I had to email this because the site wasn’t working from the back end during the late hours of the night that I finished it…somehow either I didn’t send my most recently saved version or I messed up the formatting but I didn’t have ASU vs OSU (fixing that now) so thanks for catching that formatting error!

What will happen to Arizona if the beat ASU and beat USC.. Will they make the tournament.

Ginger Poulson May 15, 2013 - 1:00 pm

I’m not going to rule them out just yet, I actually put them in last week despite RPI because I thought they were going to do better this past weekend. They’d have to make a big statement though…like sweeping ASU in Tempe, and even then it might be a stretch. But it’s a possibility.

I figured you would change your stance on auburn after having them out the last few weeks, a 20’s rpi and 20’s SOS and being 31-21 usually gets you in in a power conference like the SEC. I do believe they still have to win 2 out of 3 this weekend against Arkansas to stay assured though.

sorry meant 30’s rpi

The Los Angeles and Starkville Regional’s are no joke either.
