18 of 25 ranked teams had winning records in week 11.
Mercer (36-12 overall; 4-1 week)-Mercer stays at #1 after sweeping Atlantic Sun series at SC-Upstate by the scores 7-3, 12-5 and 8-7. Mid-week the Bears split two games at Florida A&M losing 11-5 Tuesday and avoiding disaster Wednesday by scoring single runs in the top 8th and 9th and holding on for the 7-6 win………….Louisville (33-10 overall; 3-1 week) kept pace going 3-1 on week. The Cardinals lost 10-2 to Vanderbilt Tuesday and swept Georgetown in Big East play 2-1, 6-2 and 13-7.
Good Weeks
- Indiana (34-8 overall; 5-0 week)-The Hoosiers have won 8 in a row including 5 this week. IU beat Eastern Kentucky 5-2 Tuesday, Indiana St 8-1 Wednesday and swept Michigan in Big Ten play. It took 10 innings to complete the sweep of Michigan. Michigan scored a run in top of 10th to take a 2-1 lead however Sophomore DH Kyle Schwarber hit lead off HR in btm 10th and pinch hitter Chris Sujka drove home the winning run with 2 outs. Indiana and Nebraska are tied atop the Big Ten at 11-4 with the Hoosiers traveling to Nebraska this coming weekend.
- South Alabama (34-12 overall; 5-0 week)-The Jaguars continued to role in week 11 going 5-0 with two mid week wins over Jacksonville St and sweeping their Sun Belt series at Louisiana-Monroe (10-8, 9-6 and 7-2). USA sits in first place in Sun Belt 2 games in front of 2nd place Troy.
- Notre Dame (26-16 overall; 4-1 week)-The Irish started the week in 9th place in the Big East putting them squarely on the bubble despite their great RPI#26. Notre Dame won all 3 games vs UCONN by the scores of 12-2, 4-3 and 12-5 to improve to 8-7 in Big East good for 6th place. Mid week Notre Dame lost 15-3 at Toledo Tuesday and beat Michigan St 7-3 Wednesday.
- New Mexico (27-16 overall; 3-0 week)-The Lobos have won 10 in a row and have taken control of the MWC conference with series sweep of UNLV and lead 2nd place San Diego St by 5 games. New Mexico won game one 9-0 and game two 5-3 before a dramatic game three Sunday. UNLV scored 13 runs over final 4 innings to take a 13-7 lead into the bottom of the 9th only to have the Lobos score 6 runs, 4 coming after 2 outs, in the btm of the 9th to tie game and push one across in the btm of 10th to win 14-13 and finish the sweep.
- Sam Houston St (27-17 overall; 4-0 week)-The Bearkats went 4-0 on week with a 10-7 win over UT-Arlington Tuesday and sweeping SLC series at Northwestern St to keep pace with Lamar atop the SLC standings.
- Louisiana-Lafayette (31-14 overall; 4-1 week)-Louisiana picked up big Sun Belt series win taking 2 of 3 at Florida International. The Ragin’ Cajuns dropped the series opener 7-6 at FIU but took the series with a 9-1 win Saturday and 14-4 win Sunday. Mid week they won 11-9 at McNeese St Tuesday and 6-3 at home vs SE Louisiana.
- Lamar (33-11 overall; 3-0 week)-The Cardinals hosted first place Stephen F. Austin in SLC play and swept the series by scores of 4-3, 4-1 and 4-3. Lamar has won 8 games in a row and is and tied atop the Southland with Sam Houston St at (12-6) one game in front of SE Louisiana.
- Western Carolina (30-17 overall; 4-1 week)-The Catamounts have won 13 of 15 games and swept their last three SoCon series to move 2 ½ games in front of second place Citadel with two SoCon series left. This week WCU beat Kennesaw St 2-0 Tuesday, lost 12-1 at Clemson Wednesday and swept conference series at UNCG (7-3, 10-7, and 15-5).
Bad Weeks
- San Diego (26-18 overall; 2-3 week)-Two weeks ago the Toreros seemed like a lock for a NCAA bid however they are now just one of the bubble teams after losing 2 of 3 at home to San Francisco. San Diego started the week Tuesday with a 3-2 win over UC Riverside and a 12-4 loss at UC Santa Barbara Wednesday before losing the series to San Francisco. The Toreros are 10-8 good for 4th place having lost 4 of last 5 WCC series and 5 of 6 weekend series overall.
- Florida Atlantic (27-17 overall; 1-3 week)-The Owls lost 6-4 at Miami Wednesday before losing 2 of 3 at home to Troy in Sun Belt play. The series loss dropped FAU into a 3rd place tie with Louisiana-Lafayette and 3 games behind first place South Alabama and one game behind 2nd place Troy.
Good and Bad Weeks
- UNC Wilmington (32-13 overall; 2-2 week)-The Seahawks picked up a huge 9-8 win at North Carolina Tuesday but then lost 2 of 3 at Towson. Even with the series loss UNCW still sits 2 ½ games up on second place William & Mary and Towson.
Enter Top 25
- Troy (32-12 overall; 3-1 week) gets back into the top 25 at #25. The Trojans beat Samford 8-2 Tuesday and won 2 of 3 at Florida Atlantic. Troy has won 8 of 9 games and are in 2nd place in the Sun Belt two games behind South Alabama. Troy travels to South Alabama the last weekend of the regular season.

- #23 CSU Bakersfield (29-16 overall; 2-2 week)-The Roadrunners drop of after losing 2 of 3 at Texas St
News and Notes
Tuesday Loyola-Marymount beat Cal St Northridge 5-0 with Sr LHP Matt Florer throwing a no hitter. Florer threw 134 while hitting one, walking 5 and striking out 5. It was the second no hitter in Loyola-Marymount’s history.
Dartmouth (28-6) won the Red Rolfe division for sixth straight year winning 13 of 14 games to end regular season will play Columbia (24-19), who won the Lou Gehrig division, in the Ivy League Championship Series starting Saturday May 4th in Columbia. The two played double header back on March 31st with Dartmouth winning both games at Columbia by scores of 3-2 and 7-4.

U North Florida should be in the top 25 instead of Florida Gulf Coast and I’m a Mercer fan. They took 2-3 from Mercer, have a higher RPI, better record and are leading the ASUN.
You guys have to start doing a better job on these because your stock in college baseball knowledge is falling quickly
I have checked back periodically to see if UNF will crack the top 25 and thought for sure this was the week it would happen. I am surprised once again. They swept their biggest rival in Jacksonville University this week by a series score 32-7 on the road. As Simsropp said, they have a higher RPI than FGCU and 10 other teams in the top 25 you listed and have led the A-SUN for the majority of the season which includes the number 1 team on the list who they took 2/3 from. I dont know what else it takes to crack the mid major top 25.
They have been the first one left out the last 2 weeks. Here is a breakdown of who has gotten in over them since week 8.
Week #11- Only one team got in this week and it was between North Florida and Troy. Troy should probably be higher also but Troy beat Samford mid week and went to FAU and won 2 of 3. North Florida swept Jacksonville on the road which is nice but Jacksonville is not very good this year so Troy got the nod.
Week #10-Only one team got week 10 also. Western Carolina got in after beating Gardner Webb mid week and sweeping Georgia Southern. North Florida won 2 of 3 vs Kennesaw St
Week #9-Week 9 two teams got in, Michigan St went 4-0 on week(1-0 Western Michigan; 3-0 Indiana) and Pittsburgh went 4-0 for week (1-0 at Youngstown St; 3-0 Notre Dame) . North Florida also went 4-0 (1-0 Florida A&M and 3-0 vs Northern Kentucky) so not close to what MSU and Pitt did.
Week 8 was the time they could have and maybe should have gotten in when they won 2 of 3 from Mercer. 3 teams got in that week Louisiana(1-0 McNeese St; 2-1 Troy;), Campbell (1-0 at NC A&T; 1-0 Old Dominion; 3-0 at Prebyterian;) and Lamar (2-1 at SE Louisiana).
The last time they were in was week 4 at #24 and they dropped out after losing at UCF and going 1-2 at South Alabama. Looking over the their results week 8 was when they should have probably gotten in like i said above the problem is that since then they have not had a better week than some the teams that have gotten in, in my opinion.

Anyway that is the breakdown of why they are not in right now.
Again….why is FGCU still in top 25 and UNF not? FGCU has an RPI of 88 and a record that is beginning to look more like a .500 team. Don’t give me the Florida sweep as an excuse because UNF beat the Gators as well.
They are in the top 25 still for somewhat the same reason UNF is not in the top 25. Week 8 they were ranked #8 and went 0-4 losing to FAU and being swept by Mercer.(which is not enough to drop them out of rankings) They dropped 4 spots to #14 and have not lost a weekend series since so how could i drop them out? This past week the lost 2 games mid week to Bethune then swept Northern Kentucky and i dropped them 3 spots.
Right or wrong that is why they are still in the rankings. I try to stay consistent and not biased for anyone or against anyone.
What else? I like being questioned it keeps me on my toes and if everyone is happy then i know im wrong. 🙂
It would be nice if you got the #1 team in your poll’s conference right. Mercer and USC-Upstate are in the Atlantic Sun not the Big South. Also, FGCU and UNF are in the A-Sun, so the A-Sun seems to be the major source of your comments. So, you should probably list the correct conference.
That would be nice. Guess thats what get for doing it at 1am Monday. I see where i screwed up on Mercer but can not find where i messed up on FGCU or UNF? The reason there are so many comments is because that is what people where asking about.
Did i explanation for not having UNF in the top 25 and for still having FGCU in make sense to you guys who asked????
Once again posters jinx their teams. Stetson wins game 1 vs North Florida 9-4 while FGCU is having a very good week going 2-0 vs FIU and won game 1 vs Jacksonville. That is either the 4th or 5th time the jinx of the CBD Top 25 complaint board. LOL
