Mercer (32-11 overall; 3-1 week) takes over the top spot. The Bears started the week with a 5-3 win at Georgia Southern Tuesday and won 2 of 3 from Lipscomb (7-4, 5-2, 4-8) in A-Sun play and have won 7 of 8 overall.
Good WeeksÂ
- San Diego (24-15 overall; 4-0 week)-San Diego beat UC Santa Barbara 7-5 Tuesday and swept WCC series at Santa Clara (7-3, 7-4, and 6-3). All-American 3B Kris Bryant hit 4 HRs this week to bring his nation leading total to 20.
- Gonzaga (26-11-1 overall; 3-1 week)-The Bulldogs beat Washington St 4-3 Tuesday and won 2 of 3 at Pepperdine. With the series win at Pepperdine the Zags now have a 2 ½ game lead over San Diego, Pepperdine, San Francisco and Loyola-Marymount and hold the tie breaker over everyone except Loyola-Marymount.
- UNCW (30-11 overall; 4-0 week)-The Seahawks won 7-2 at ECU Tuesday and swept George Mason in CAA series. UNCW has won 9 of 10 games and holds a 3 game lead over 2nd place Delaware in CAA.
- Austin Peay (28-12 overall; 2-1 week)-The Governors won 2 of 3 vs Belmont in big OVC series. Belmont won game one 5-2 but Austin Peay rallied back to take the series with a 5-3 win Saturday and 10-6 win on Sunday. However even with the series win they are in 4th place 3 games behind Tennessee Tech for 1st and 2 ½ games behind Belmont and Jacksonville St for 2nd place.
- New Mexico (24-16 overall; 4-0 week)-The Lobos beat rival New Mexico St 13-6 Wednesday and swept their MWC series at Nevada to extend their win streak to 7 games. New Mexico is now 3 games up on 2nd place UNLV in the MWC.
- Louisiana-Lafayette (27-13 overall; 3-2 week)-The Ragin’ Cajuns opened the week with a 4-3 loss at Nicholls St Tuesday and a 12-0 win at Northwestern State on Wednesday before taking 2 of 3 from Florida Atlantic in Sun Belt play. Louisiana won the opener 5-3 Friday, FAU scored 2 runs in the top of 9th Saturday to win 5-4, and Louisiana won the series with a 12-2 win Sunday. With the series win Louisiana is now tied for 5th at 10-8 with FIU and travel to FIU this weekend.
Bad Weeks
- Pepperdine (21-17 overall; 1-3 week)-The Waves lost 8-4 to Cal St Fullerton Tuesday and lost 2 of 3 at home to Gonzaga in WCC play dropping 2 ½ games behind Gonzaga in a 4 way tie for 2nd place.
- Coastal Carolina (25-15 overall; 1-3 week)-The Chanticleers lost 5-1 at UNC Tuesday and lost 2 of 3 at home to Radford in Big South series. Friday’s series opener with Radford was suspended in the top of the 8th 0-0 due to rain and was finished Saturday with Coastal pushing across a run in the bottom of 15th inning for a 1-0 win. Radford won game two Saturday 4-3 and took the series with a 5-2 win Sunday. Coastal still holds a 3 game lead over Presbyterian in the South division of the Big South.
Good and Bad Weeks
- Louisville (30-9 overall; 2-2 week)-The Cardinals week started off great with a 12-5 win at instate rival Kentucky however they dropped 2 of 3 at St John’s in Big East play. Louisville won the opener at St John’s 7-4 on Friday. Saturday, the Cardinals out hit St John’s 14 to 4 in the 4-3 loss and held a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the 8th when St John’s scored 4 runs and held on for the 6-5 win and series win.
Enter Top 25Â
- Western Carolina (26-16 overall; 4-0 week)-The Catamounts enter the top 25 at #25 after beating Gardner Webb 9-6 Wednesday and sweeping Georgia Southern in SoCon play (9-3, 9-8, and 7-4). WCU has won 7 in a row and 9 of 10 to move into first place in the SoCon one game ahead of Elon.
Dropped out
- #20 Southeastern Louisiana (26-15 overall; 2-2 week)-The Lions drop out of top 25 after losing 2 of 3 at Stephen F. Austin and having lost their last 3 weekend series in SLC play. Even after going 3-6 in their last 3 series they are still in a 4 way tie for 2nd place just one game back of Stephen F. Austin.
News and Notes
Bryant (25-12-1) extended the nation’s longest winning streak of 2013 to 19 games with a 10-0 win at Stony Brook Tuesday before losing 4-1 at Sacred Heart Friday.
8 inches of snow Thursday night and Friday morning along with cold temperatures forced the cancelation of the entire Michigan St (22-11) at Minnesota (23-13) Big Ten series.

Coastal – UNCW case rested.
Meanwhile, Indiana is the Weak Sister among the Top 7. Whichever ACC, SEC, or Pac 12 team gets the #2 Seed in Indiana’s Regional will be jumping for joy. If they’re awarded a National Seed (as the Tournament Selection Committee will strive to do), the team hosting the opposite Regional can go ahead and start selling Super Regional tickets as soon as they know they’re paired up with the Bloomington Regional.
LOL was waiting for you to say something about Coastal. They just cant seem to put runs on the board.
Indiana is a pretty damn good team but i would have to see their draw before said they will or will not win a regional. But i will say its going to be hard no matter their draw.
Creighton swept Southern Illinois and is now 22-9.

Nebraska has been playing damn good no doubt. The problem is or was they just now got to .500
You and Cbbf sure did jinx your teams. LMU has lost first 2 at Portland to go back to .500 and Nebraska has 0-4 this week so far to drop to 19-23.
You might want to talk to jimbro cause he did same to his UT-Arlington boys last year.
Don’t know why LMU is not in the mix. They took the series from both Gonzaga and San Diego
Loyola keeps hovering around the .500 mark which makes it hard to get them in. Early in year there were some that were below .500 for couple weeks but that was differ.
