EadesSideviewCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be counting down the players day-by-day until we reach number 1.

Number 65 on our Top 100 Countdown is Ryan Eades of LSU. The 6’3 right-handed pitcher from Slidell, Louisiana was drafted in the 19th round by Colorado in 2010.

During his freshman season, Eades made 18 appearances for the Tigers including six starts. In his 43 innings pitched, Eades struck out 31 batters with an ERA of 4.81. Eades posted a record of 4-1 on the season, highlighted by going 3-0 in his final four starts on the year. His success in 2011 continued into the summer where he pitched for the Bourne Braves in the prestigious Cape Cod League, posting a record of 3-0 with an ERA of just 0.81 (including All Star Game). His success with Bourne earned him the honor of being named the 2011 Cape Cod League Pitcher of the Year.

In 2012, Eades took the mound as Saturday starter for LSU. In his 17 starts, he posted a record of 5-3 with an ERA of 3.83 in 94 innings pitched. During the season, Eades was honored with SEC Pitcher of the Week (April 16, 2012) as well as being named to the 2012 SEC All-Defensive Team.

Eades is a serious prospect in the upcoming 2013 draft with some scouts seeing first round potential. His fastball sits in the low-mid 90s, and his delivery is fantastic. Along with his fastball, he has three other excellent pitches in his slider, changeup up and curve ball. With a solid repertoire and a lot of heart, Eades is one of the top 100 players to watch for in 2013.

Hi all! Just wanted to let you know that with this list, a lot of players are very interchangeable! Depending on who would be ranking and what criteria they are basing selections on, almost any one of these players could be top 50 from different perspectives! I personally didn’t do the final rankings, I just nominate players and do the write-ups…but they are all fantastic players who are a pleasure to watch! The Top 100 is meant more to honor the players who we feel are the very best in college baseball at the time than to say who is better than who. At this point, they are all absolutely excellent, however for the purpose of the list we do rank them. Just shoot me an email at ginger.poulson@collegebaseballdaily.com if you have any questions on the list or where a player is ranked I would be happy to answer them! Have a wonderful week!

I will always defend the list and ginger is right that we could make this list 200 players long and noone would know the difference!
