GeorgeWashingtonlogoWASHINGTON – The George Washington baseball team will host 28 games at fully renovated Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va., as part of its 56-game schedule in head coach Gregg Ritchie’s debut season in 2013.

The Colonials are under the direction of a new coaching staff headed by GW alumnus, Athletic Hall of Fame inductee and former Major League Baseball player and coach Gregg Ritchie. Associate Head Coach Tom Sheridan and assistant coaches Dave Lorber and Stephanos Stroop complete Coach Ritchie’s staff.

Construction and renovations are now complete at Barcroft Park, making it one of the top collegiate facilities in the region. Upgraded amenities include a new FieldTurf playing surface, expanded grandstand-style seating, covered dugouts, bullpens, batting cages, press box, concession stands, restrooms, entry plaza and expanded parking.

The Colonials begin the 2013 season with seven consecutive road games with three-game series at Davidson (Feb. 15-17) and USC Upstate (Feb. 22-24) before visiting NCAA Championship participant Virginia on February 26.

GW will open the inaugural season at its fully renovated home facility on March 1 with the opener of a three-game series against Quinnipiac.

Other non-conference opponents GW will welcome to Barcroft Park include UMES (March 6), NCAA Championship participant Cornell (doubleheader, March 9 and 10), Penn (doubleheader, March 17), Georgetown (March 19), UMBC (March 27), James Madison (doubleheader, April 27) and George Mason (April 30).

The Colonials will make return visits to Penn (doubleheader, March 17), UMES (March 26), George Mason (April 2), Georgetown (April 9), UMBC (April 23), James Madison (April 27) while also visiting Navy (May 1) and Towson (March 12).

GW opens Atlantic 10 Conference play with a three-game set at Massachusetts from March 22-24 and will also visit conference foes Charlotte (April 12-14), Fordham (April 19-21) and NCAA Championship participant Dayton (May 3-5). Home conference series include Temple (March 29-31), Richmond (April 5-7), conference newcomer VCU (May 10-12) and La Salle (May 16-18).

The 2013 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship will be held May 22-25 at Charlotte’s Hayes Stadium.
