Top 100 Countdown: 79. Tom Bourdon (Boston College)

TomBourdonBCCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

Checking in at number 79 is Boston College junior outfielder Tom Bourdon from Simsbury, Connecticut. The 5’11 187 pounder graduated from Northwest Catholic High School. As a senior, he batted .465 with six homers, 26 RBIs and 13 steals. The Boston Red Sox selected him in the 38th round but he decided to continue his career at Boston College.

Bourdon stepped into the Boston College lineup in 2011 as the everyday starter in centerfield appearing in 49 games (46 starts). He finished the campaign with a .289 batting average while leading the squad with six steals. He had seven doubles, a homer, 17 RBIs and 20 runs scored and got gradually better throughout the season finishing the ACC season with a .298 batting average.

He continued to be the everyday centerfielder in 2012 starting all 55 games for the Eagles. He led the Eagles in batting average (.324), slugging percentage (.529), hits (79), RBIs (37), doubles (18), home runs (10), total bases (129) and multiple-hit games (22). He was named to the All-ACC second team and an ABCA All-Northeast Region first team member.

Bourdon spent the summer of 2012 in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Chatham Anglers. He finished with a .238 average with five RBI in 27 games played.
