NC State baseball will open its season with a three-game series against Appalachian State the weekend of February 15, followed by a five-game home stand to kick off the 2013 campaign according to the schedule released Wednesday.

“Last year’s team brought so much excitement to Raleigh, and to our university,” said NC State head coach Elliott Avent. “Our challenging 2013 home schedule will give our fans plenty of opportunities to pack ‘The Doak’ and rekindle the excitement and magic of last year’s sold out regional.”

After eight home games out of the gate, the Pack will return to Myrtle Beach, S.C.’s Pelicans Field for Coastal Carolina’s tournament, March 1-3. Tuneups with in-state rivals Elon and Campbell await on March 5 and 6 before State hosts Clemson to open the conference slate.

In ACC play, Doak Field at Dail Park will be the site of weekend series between the Wolfpack and Clemson (March 8-10), Maryland (March 29-31), Virginia Tech (April 5-7), North Carolina (April 26-28), and Florida State (May 11-13).

State also hosts nine non-conference matchups with opponents from the state of North Carolina: Appalachian State (Feb. 15-17), Campbell (March 6), UNC Greensboro (March 19), Elon (April 3), East Carolina (April 9), Davidson (April 23), and UNC Wilmington (May 7).

On February 26 and 27, Avent will meet his former squad as the Wolfpack squares off against New Mexico State for a two-game set.

The Pack will travel to Wake Forest (March 15-17), Virginia (March 22-24), Boston College (April 12-14), Georgia Tech (April 19-21), and Duke (May 16-18) for conference series.
