Fairfield releases 2013 Schedule

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Head Coach Bill Currier has announced the Stags schedule for the 2013 baseball season. The 49-game slate with features four NCAA Tournament participants, including Super Regional finalist St. John’s University and College World Series qualifier Stony Brook University.

Fairfield opens the 2013 campaign with three games at Longwood University, February 22-24. The Stags return to Virginia the following week for a three-game series at George Mason University, March 1-3.

The Stags head south once again, March 10-17, for a stay in Florida. After playing four games at the RussMatt Tournament, March 10-13, in Winter Haven, Fairfield will travel to Deland for a four game series at Stetson University, March 15-19.

Fairfield heads to St. John’s on March 19 before opening Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play at home against Siena College. After a stop at Central Connecticut State University on March 26, the Stags will host University of Hartford. Fairfield then hits the road for three games at Rider University and a one game at NJIT.

The Stags host Saint Peter’s University, April 6-7, and will host Yale University on April 10. After stops at Marist College and the University of Connecticut on April 16, Fairfield will play nine of its next 10 at home. The home stand begins with Northeastern University on April 17 and is followed by Sacred Heart University on April 23, Central Connecticut State on April 24, Niagara University, April 27-28, and Iona College, May 4-5. The only road game in that span is Stony Brook University on May 1.

Fairfield plays its final seven games on the road with MAAC series at Manhattan College, May 10-11, and Canisius College, May 16-17. The Stags also travel to Quinnipiac University on May 14.

The 2013 MAAC Baseball Tournament will be held May 23-26 at Waterfront Park in Trenton, N.J.

Fairfield went 27-28 overall in 2012, setting the program records for wins in a season. The Stags capped off a solid campaign by qualifying the MAAC Championship tournament for the first time in 12 years and earning the third seed with a 14-10 league record.
