ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan baseball team announced its upcoming 2013 schedule on Thursday (Nov. 8). The season is highlighted by two trips to California, an exhibition with the New York Mets, a game at Citi Field and 24 Big Ten Conference games.
“We’re excited about our 2013 schedule,” first-year head coach Erik Bakich said. “Our non-conference slate should be very competitive in preparation for Big Ten play. We are fortunate to travel to different parts of the country with trips to California, Florida, South Carolina, and have a tremendous opportunity to play in Citi Field.”
The Maize and Blue opens the 2013 schedule Friday, Feb. 15, against Pac-12 foe California at Evans Diamond in Berkeley, Calif. That starts a three-game series with the Bears, who went to the College World Series in 2011. The four games in Port Charlotte start the annual Spring Break trip, which includes a midweek game at Florida Gulf Coast and four games at the San Diego Tournament, to be held on the campus of the University of San Diego March 7- 10. Michigan will face Saint Louis two more times at USD and has single games against Holy Cross and the host Toreros. Michigan will wrap up the tournament weekends in Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the Coastal Carolina Tournament March 15-17.
