NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The Belmont baseball team will play 16 of its first 21 games at home, at E.S. Rose Park, for the 2013 season. The team’s schedule which begins with a pair of NCAA Tournament participants from last year was announced by head coach Dave Jarvis on Wednesday morning.

The Bruins will start the season against Horizon League Champions Valparaiso on February 15 at Rose Park. The two-game series with the Crusaders is split, as Belmont entertains Ohio University on February 16. Cross-town rival Vanderbilt will conclude Belmont’s opening week on February 19.

Valparaiso and Vanderbilt make up two of the three NCAA Tournament teams on BU’s schedule for 2013.

Belmont will take its first road trip of the season to Athens, Ga. to take on the Bulldogs from the University of Georgia on February 22-24, before splitting a two-game series with Western Kentucky and hosting Illinois State. The Bruins will then travel to Knoxville, Tenn. on March 5 for a matchup with Tennessee.

A three-game series with Southeast Missouri on March 8-10 will open the Bruins inaugural season in the Ohio Valley Conference. The series with SEMO opens an eight-game home stand for the Bruins. Belmont will also host Buffalo, Northern Illinois, Bradley and Middle Tennessee from March 12-19.

Southern Illinois, Evansville, Lipscomb and Mercer will challenge the Bruins both at home and on the road in non-conference action.

The OVC Tournament will be held at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tenn. on May 22-26.
