Louisiana-Monroe releases 2013 Schedule

MONROE, La. — Head coach Jeff Schexnaider released the ULM baseball team’s 2013 schedule Sunday and it features 29 home games including matchups against Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Wake Forest.

ULM will open the 2013 season on Friday, Feb. 15, when they battle Wake Forest at Warhawk Field. The contest against the Demon Deacons is part of the ULM Tournament that also features the Braves of Alcorn State.

The Warhawks will hit the road the following weekend (Feb. 22-24) for a three-game series at Sam Houston State. The Bearkats earned an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament last season and finished the 2012 campaign 40-22 after posting a 2-2 record at the Houston, Texas regional (Host: Rice).

ULM’s first mid-week game of the season will take place at Warhawk Field on Tuesday, Feb. 26, when they battle Southern Miss. The Warhawks will then travel to Memphis for a three-game non-conference set (Mar. 1-3).

Ole Miss will visit Monroe for a two-game midweek series beginning on Tuesday, Mar. 12. The Rebels finished the 2012 season 37-22 overall with a 2-2 mark at the College Station Regional (Host: Texas A&M).

The Warhawks will open Sun Belt Conference play on the road at UL-Lafayette (Mar. 15-17). ULM will host Troy (Mar. 22-24) for its first home conference series of 2013. Other home conference series include: Florida Atlantic (Apr. 5-7), Arkansas State (Apr. 19-21), South Alabama (Apr. 26-28) and UL-Lafayette (May 16-18).

The 2013 Sun Belt Championship is set for May 22-26 with UL-Lafayette serving as this year’s host.
