College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

Number 91 on our Top 100 Countdown is Georgia’s Hunter Cole. The 6’1 Moore, South Carolina native was a 49th-round pick by the Washington Nationals in the 2011 MLB draft.

Cole had a fantastic breakout season for the Bulldogs. Defensively he held a .978 fielding percentage in the outfield, spending the majority of his time in left field. At the plate, Cole batted .276 on the year including seven home runs, which was a team-high. Cole also had a streak of 19 games where he reached base and a 14-game hitting streak. Notably, towards the end of the 2012 season, Cole suffered an oblique injury.

However, his stellar freshman season earned him several awards including being named to the All-Freshman SEC team in addition to being named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American.

From a scouting perspective, Cole shows excellent athleticism and an excellent bat. He has excellent arm strength, a good swing and great bat speed, which attribute to the power that is seen from Cole at the plate. His arm strength is also a great asset to Cole in the outfield. With solid mechanics and excellent athleticism, Cole is definitely a player to keep on your radar, making him one of the Top 100 Players to watch for in the 2013 season.
