Stanford releases 2013 Schedule

STANFORD, Calif. – Clark & Elizabeth Nelson Director of Baseball Mark Marquess recently announced Stanford’s 2013 schedule, which includes its traditional balance of competitive non-conference matchups along with the continuation of a number of Pac-12 Conference rivalries. Stanford will face a pair of teams from the 2012 College World Series, including defending national champion Arizona.

Ranked 13th by Baseball America at the close of the 2012 campaign, the Cardinal finished 41-18 last season and return to the field Feb. 15-17 with a three-game series at Rice.

The home opener against Cal (Feb. 19) will take place before a three-game series with Fresno State (Feb. 22-24) at Sunken Diamond.

Texas will pay a visit to the Cardinal for a trio of battles March 1-3 and UNLV (March 8-10) treks to Stanford for the final non-conference series before the beginning of Pac-12 play.

Conference opponents Utah (March 22-24), Washington (April 12-14), Arizona (April 19-21), Oregon State (May 10-12) and UCLA (May 24-26) each will visit the Cardinal.

Starting with a March 28-30 series at Washington State, the road edition of the conference slate continues at USC (April 5-7), Oregon (April 26-28), Arizona State (May 3-5) and California (May 17-19).

Non-conference road bouts include visits to Saint Mary’s (Feb. 26), Santa Clara (March 5), UC Davis (March 26), Pacific (April 16) and San Jose State (April 23).

Stanford will also roll out the carpet for non-conference opponents San Jose State (April 9), Saint Mary’s (April 30), San Francisco (May 7), Santa Clara (May 14) and Pacific (May 21).

The road to Omaha begins with the NCAA Regionals (May 31-June 4) hosted on campus sites followed by the Super Regionals spanning from June 7-10.

The 2013 College World Series (June 15-26) will be held at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.

Stanford has appeared in the NCAA Tournament 30 times with 16 College World Series appearances, including national titles in 1987 and 1988.

Stanford’s home contests will be played at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond.
