FORT WORTH – TCU baseball head coach Jim Schlossnagle recently inked a two-year contract extension, putting him under contract until 2018. The Horned Frogs have been postseason participants every season since his arrival on campus in 2003.
“Jim Schlossnagle defines what TCU is about,” TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte said. “He has done a phenomenal job in representing our institution and making our baseball program an important part of the Fort Worth community. While his success on the diamond speaks for itself, Jim has been the ultimate team player. He has the big picture in mind for TCU and Fort Worth. His recent honor of being selected as Team USA’s coach for next summer shows the respect level he has nationally. We are very excited to know we have Coach Schlossnagle guiding our baseball program into a new era this spring and for many more years to come.”

Schlossnagle is heading into his 10th season as the head coach. He has done nothing but win since his arrival on campus. He has won more games (388) in nine years than any coach in TCU history after posting the top nine win totals each of the last nine years. He is 388-175 (.689) as the head coach at TCU and 465-222 (.677) in 11 years as a head coach.
The Horned Frogs are coming off their third NCAA Super Regional appearance in the last four years and have won 40 or more games in each of their last six campaigns. TCU is one of eight schools to have played in three of the last four Super Regionals and one of just 10 programs to play in the last nine NCAA Regionals.
In his time at TCU, Schlossnagle has led the Frogs to a conference championship in every season. From 2004-08, TCU was crowned conference tournament champions, twice in Conference USA and three times in the Mountain West. TCU was the Mountain West regular season champions in each of its seven seasons as members of the league. In addition, the Frogs took home four conference tournament crowns.
Under his guidance, the Frogs have played in nine NCAA Regionals, three NCAA Super Regionals and made the program’s first-ever trip to the College World Series in 2010.
He has seen 38 players drafted over the last nine seasons. Matt Purke was the 2010 National Freshman of the Year, while Bryan Holaday was named the 2010 Johnny Bench Award winner. Four players have earned conference Pitcher of the Year honors and three have been named conference Freshmen of the Year. The Horned Frogs have had 66 all-conference selections, 10 All-Americans and 11 Freshmen All-Americans.
