BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The 2013 Indiana Baseball schedule is virtually complete with just a few `to-be-determined’ opponents during the annual spring break trip to be filled in soon. Head Coach Tracy released the Hoosier docket this week.
Indiana gets the ’13 campaign started with the Big Ten/Big East Challenge for the second year in a row. The inter-conference competition is set for Feb. 15-17; and IU is slated to face Connecticut, South Florida and Louisville while in the Tampa Bay area.
A return trip to Statsboro, Ga., follows the next weekend as Indiana plays a three-game series at Georgia Southern after hosting the Eagles in Bloomington a year ago.
Familiarity continues to be the name of the game in the third weekend of the season as Indiana returns to Myrtle Beach, S.C., from Mar. 1-3 to participate in Coastal Carolina’ s round-robin event for the second time in the last three seasons (opened the 2011 season there).
The Cream and Crimson’s southern trips wrap up over spring break, beginning with a three-game set at Florida (Mar. 8-10), followed by a five-games-in-five-days stretch in Winter Haven, Fla. versus opponents to be determined soon.
The 2013 home opener is scheduled for Mar. 20, hosting the Miami (OH) RedHawks. Indiana’s four home Big Ten series include: Penn State (Mar. 22-24), Illinois (Apr. 5-7), Michigan (Apr. 26-28) and Northwestern (May 10-12).
Road conference trips include: Iowa (May 29-31), Michigan State (Apr. 12-14), Nebraska (May 4-6) and Ohio State (May 16-18).
