Nevada names Cameron McMullen as Director of Baseball Operations

RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada head baseball Gary Powers today named Cameron McMullen as director of operations for the Wolf Pack. McMullen will work as a volunteer at Nevada and joins the Pack after coaching last year at Irvine Valley College in Irvine, Calif.

McMullen’s duties include data base development, Wolf Pack baseball camp coordinator, dugout club liaison, assist in organization of the Bobby Dolan baseball dinner, facility setup for practice and games, equipment, travel and coordination of on campus recruiting visits.

“Cameron will be a great addition to our baseball staff,” Powers said. “He will be much appreciated and valued for his enthusiasm and willingness to learn and help with the very important and time consuming daily administrative tasks dealing with recruiting, fund raising and practice and game administration. We are sincerely happy to have him with us in this capacity.”

While at IVC he worked with the infielders and taught kinesiology. This past summer he was an assistant coach with the Anchorage Bucs in the Alaska Baseball League.

A native of Huntington Beach, Calif. he was a three-time All-Sunset League selection while playing for Huntington Beach High School. His senior season he earned All-Southern Californian baseball honors and was an All-CIF selection in soccer.

McMullen played baseball two years at Golden West College where he earned first-team All-Orange Empire Conference honors and was named the All-Southern California first team. Following GWC he spent one year at UC Riverside before transferring to Massachusetts to finish his collegiate career and played shortstop for the Minutemen. While at UMass he represented the baseball team on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

During college McMullen played summer baseball for the North Adams Steeplecats in Massachusetts and later was an assistant coach in 2011. He spent the summer of 2008 playing for the Regina Red Sox in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

McMullen received an associates degree from Golden West College and a bachelor of arts degree in history from UMass. In 2011 he earned a master of arts degree in teaching from USC.
