The Auburn baseball team will play a total of 28 games against teams that played in the 2012 NCAA Tournament as head coach John Pawlowski announced the 2013 schedule on Friday. Auburn will play 13 of those games at Plainsman Park, with two coming in the second weekend of the season at the annual tournament.
Opening Day for the 2013 season is Friday, Feb. 15 when Auburn plays host to Maine in the first of a four-game series that runs through Monday. The following weekend Auburn plays host to its annual tournament, which includes last year’s NCAA Tournament participants College of Charleston, where Pawlowski was the head coach for nine years, and Indiana State along with Middle Tennessee State.
The rest of the pre-conference schedule includes a home-and-home with Kennesaw State (Feb. 26 and March 12), weekend series with Eastern Illinois (March 1-3) and Brown (March 8-10) and the annual Capital City Classic against rival Alabama on Tuesday, March 5 at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
Auburn’s SEC schedule begins with a visit from Vanderbilt (March 15-17) before a weekend trip to LSU (March 22-24). The month of March ends with a visit from Alabama (March 29-31).
Auburn will play on the road in three out of four April weekends, heading to league newcomer Texas A&M (Apr. 5-7), Mississippi State (Apr. 19-21) and the other league newcomer Missouri (Apr. 26-28). The lone home weekend in April is when Georgia (Apr. 12-14) visits Plainsman Park.
The final three conference weekends of the season brings Ole Miss (May 3-5) to Plainsman Park and takes Auburn to Florida (May 10-12) before the regular season wraps up at home against Arkansas (May 16-18).
The rest of the non-conference schedule is filled out with home dates against Alabama State (Mach 19 and Apr. 10), Wofford (Apr. 3), Samford (May 8) and Jacksonville State (May 14). Auburn’s away midweek contests are on March 20 against Southern Miss at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile, March 26 at Troy, Apr. 16 at Samford and May 7 at Jacksonville State.
