MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis baseball team has announced its schedule for the 2013 season featuring 25 games against 2012 NCAA Tournament teams as well as 35 home games at FedExPark.

“We have put together a tremendously challenging schedule, something I promise in the recruiting process,” head coach Daron Schoenrock said. “This is by far the most home games we’ve had since moving into FedExPark in 2010.”

The 100th season of University of Memphis baseball begins on Friday, February 15 as the Tigers open a three-game set against Illinois State at FedExPark. The Tigers host Arkansas State on Tuesday, February 19 before a three-game series against 2012 NCAA Tournament participant Missouri in the Bluff City. The set against Missouri marks the first time that Memphis will host a SEC foe for a three-game series since sweeping Tennessee in March of 1981.

Memphis plays its first road game of the season on Tuesday, February 26 at Ole Miss before continuing a season-opening five weekends at home. UL-Monroe comes to FedExPark March 1-3 and Buffalo visits the following weekend. After a two-game midweek set at Alabama (March 12-13), the Tigers round out the five-straight weekends at home with 2012 NCAA College World Series participant Kent State (March 15-17).

The Tigers open Conference USA play at Tulane (March 22-24) before returning to Memphis for an 11-game homestand. A two-game set against Middle Tennessee (March 26-27) primes the Tigers for the first league series at home against Houston (March 29-31). UCF (April 5-7), Southern Miss (April 19-21) and Marshall (May 3-5) round out the league schedule at home.

The Tigers play the first of two games at AutoZone Park on April 2 against Ole Miss. The Tigers will battle Mississippi State at AutoZone Park on April 23. Midweek contests at Arkansas State (April 30) and a May 14 tilt versus Austin Peay finishes the midweek slate and the Tigers close the regular season with a three-game series at SEMO.

A rematch of the C-USA Tournament Championship game is slated for April 12-14 as Memphis travels to UAB. The Tigers other league series on the road are at East Carolina (April 26-28) and Rice (May 10-12). Southern Miss (April 19-21) and Marshall (May 3-5) round out the league schedule and the 2013 C-USA Baseball Championship is scheduled to begin May 22 in Pearl, Miss., at Trustmark Park.

“If we can be a good team at home this year, we’ll be in the position we desire at the end of the regular season,” Schoenrock said. “I know our players will thoroughly enjoy the challenges of the 2013 schedule.”
