TULSA, Okla.-Less than a month after being tabbed as the head coach, Ryan Folmar has completed his staff with the hiring of Sean Snedeker as the pitching coach, it was announced Tuesday. Folmar will also retain Ryan Neill, Brian Aguailar and Wes Davis from last year.

Snedeker brings nearly 20 years of experience to the Golden Eagles, most recently spending six years as the pitching coach at Duke, leading a group that finished eighth in the nation in ERA in 2008. Snedeker’s staff also improved in strikeouts each year, finishing 2012 with an average of eight strikeouts per nine-inning game.

“We are excited with the addition of Sean to our staff,” said Folmar. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program. He is an outstanding coach with a national recruiting base that will add depth to our recruiting efforts. We are adding a quality person with a great family to this outstanding University.”

Prior to his time at Duke, Snedeker spent 12 seasons as a pitching coach in the Chicago White Sox organization and another year in the Los Angeles Dodgers system, coaching more than 40 current or former major lead pitchers.

A standout at Texas A&M from 1987-88, Snedeker had a 17-4 overall record and was selected in the 30th round of the 1988 MLB Amateur Draft, reaching the Double-A level before leaving to join the coaching ranks.

Snedeker owns both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in kinesiology from Texas A&M. He and his wife, Mary Jane, have two children, a daughter, Sydney, and son, Sy.
