FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas baseball coach Todd Butler has been promoted to associate head coach, Razorback head coach Dave Van Horn announced on Monday.
“Todd has been a valuable asset to our program over the last seven seasons,” Coach Van Horn said. “He’s regarded as one of the top recruiters and hitting coaches in the country. The players love to play for him and we feel fortunate to keep him on our coaching staff.”
Butler completed his seventh season as Arkansas’ hitting coach, outfield coach and recruiting coordinator and his 15th season as an assistant coach in the Southeastern Conference in 2012. He has helped the Razorbacks to seven consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including trips to the College World Series in 2009 and 2012.
“I am really proud to be a Razorback,” Butler said. “My family and I love Arkansas and I am very happy to say that I will continue to be a Razorback. I want to thank Coach Van Horn, Jeff Long and the Arkansas administration for everything that they have done for me and my family.”
In his seven seasons at Arkansas, Butler has coached five All-Americans, six freshman All-Americans and 10 all-conference selections. He has coached 44 Arkansas players that have been selected in the Major League Baseball Draft, including three players drafted in the first round. Currently, four of Butler’s former Razorback players are playing in Major League Baseball, including Logan Forsythe, Craig Gentry, Dallas Keuchel and Drew Smyly.
Known as one of the top recruiters in college baseball, Butler has constructed 11 recruiting classes that rank among the nation’s top 10 during his 18-year career as an NCAA Division I assistant or head coach. In his seven seasons at Arkansas, Coach Butler has had six recruiting classes that rank in the top 10 nationally.
