DALLAS, Texas – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continued its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 15th year with its 2012 weekly surveys. This season’s polls have been circulated from Feb. 20-June 26 following the NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb.
This is the final poll of the year and ’12, and championship team No. 1 Arizona downed two-time defending CWS champ South Carolina 2-0 in games on June 24-25 to capture its fourth NCAA crown and final No. 1 status.
The poll voters come from 40 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. The final poll has representation by 12 different conferences among the 297 baseball-playing schools in the 2012 NCAA Division I ranks, and four different schools have held down the No. 1 position – Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, and the winning Wildcats. The preseason 2013 NCBWA DI poll will be released in Jan. 2013 after the pre-’13 NCBWA All-America team is denoted in Dec. 2012.
