Georgia Tech Pitching Coach Tom Kinkelaar will not Return

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech has announced that baseball assistant coach Tom Kinkelaar will not return for the 2013 season. Kinkelaar spent eight years with the Yellow Jackets’ program, including the last five as pitching coach.

A national search for Kinkelaar’s replacement will begin immediately.

“I want to thank Tom for his dedication to Georgia Tech, and the passion he’s shown for the game of baseball,” said head coach Danny Hall. “He deserves a tremendous amount of credit for the development of our pitching staff over the last five years. He is a great friend and I wish him the very best in the future.”

Kinkelaar joined Hall’s staff in 2005 as the director of baseball operations and was promoted to assistant coach in 2008. Hall and Kinkelaar were college teammates at Miami (Ohio).

In five seasons under Kinkelaar, 12 Georgia Tech pitchers were selected in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, including first-round selections in each of the last three years – Deck McGuire (2010), Jed Bradley (2011) and Luke Bard (2012).

Tech claimed the program’s eighth ACC Championship in 2012 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the 26th time in the last 28 years.
