CBD Column: 2012 Waco (TX) Super Regional Preview

The Arkansas Razorbacks head south this week to take on the Baylor Bears in Waco, Texas in a Super Regional Matchup.

The Razorbacks enter with a 42-19 overall record while going 16-14 in SEC play. They won the Houston Regional by defeating Sam Houston State twice and Rice as they had a perfect record.

Arkansas is led on offense by Matt Reynolds who led the team in all three triple crown categories with a .342 batting average, seven homers, and 42 RBI.

DJ Baxendale has been the most consistent starting pitcher for Arkansas with a 7-4 record and a 2.83 ERA in 17 starts. Barrett Astin is the closer with a 3-5 record and a 2.22 ERA while having ten saves.

Baylor enters the weekend with a 48-15 record while going 20-4 in Big 12 play. They won the Waco Regional by defeating UT-Arlington, Oral Roberts, and Dallas Baptist twice after losing their opener to Oral Roberts.

The Bears offense is led by Josh Ludy who hit .368 with 15 homers and 69 RBI. Logan Vick also had a solid season with a .344 average with 39 RBI.

Josh Turley leads the pitching staff with a 9-1 record and an ERA of 1.83 in 16 starts. The bullpen is led by Clayton Bare who has made 22 appearances with a 2-0 record and a 1.31 ERA in 20.2 innings pitched.

Prediction: Baylor 2-1

these previews are cool, but I think Baxendale and Stanek will help Arkansas advance
