Senior Day has now come and gone and we played our last series at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium. It was an exciting moment to see all of the seniors you have grown so close with and be able to share that moment with their friends and families. We had stellar performances from two seniors, Rich Mascheri and Dustin Hunter as both threw complete games, while Rich threw a shutout and Dustin recorded 15 strikeouts. Although this season has not gone as we had planned, there are many great things that will be remembered from this season and three great years with the Purple Army.

Throughout my time here I have learned so many lesson and gained lasting relationships that extend well beyond the baseball field. This senior class is so privileged to have played with many great players and coaches and we will never forget what being a Leatherneck has brought to our lives.

As we finish out the season at Illinois State and South Dakota State many of us will be playing baseball for the last time. We all understand that we are going to play hard and finish the season strong for each other, as I would consider each of my teammates like a brother. I am happy to say that I am and always will be a Leatherneck and the color purple will be the sexiest color in my wardrobe.

Senior Pitcher Chris Macek

“A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove… but what will matter is the amount of time I put into making purple sexy.”

I want to hear the seniors sing “Purple Rain” this weekend at South Dakota State!
