Abe Bobb struck out five in his two-run complete game.MALIBU, Calif. —  San Francisco’s Friday starter pitched like you would expect a likely top 10 draft pick to pitch. However, San Francisco ace Kyle Zimmer, who will almost certainly be one of the top players selected in the MLB amateur draft next month, cheered from the dugout, nursing a hamstring injury.

Abe Bobb was the one dominating on the mound.

Bobb pitched his first career complete game — a four-hitter — in the Dons’ 7-2 victory over Pepperdine at Eddy D. Field Stadium Friday afternoon.

Pepperdine ace Jon Moscot struggled with his location most of the day and gave up five runs on 11 hits and one walk. From the first batter on, he was never able to settle into a groove. He constantly was working from the stretch — not getting a clean 1-2-3 inning until his seventh and final inning of work.

San Francisco’s Justin Maffei led off the game with a double and came around to score on an RBI single by Nik Balog. Balog finished with three RBI, adding a two-run double off the centerfield wall late in the game.

The Dons loaded the bases with one out in the third inning and no outs in the fourth, but Moscot limited the damage to single runs in both innings.

In the sixth inning, San Francisco made it 5-0, adding a pair of runs on its two softest hits of the game. With Ted Lemasters on first, Mason Morioka reached out and poked an outside pitch through the right side on a perfectly executed hit-and-run. Tony Cooper tried to get the runner at third base, but the ball bounced away from third baseman Austin Davidson. Lemasters scored and Morioka, who advanced on the throw, took third base. He then scored when Bradley Zimmer looped one into shallow left field and Zach Vincej couldn’t make a tough over-the-shoulder catch.

Vincej and Davidson were the only two Waves to have any hitting success against Bobb. Vincej had a leadoff single for Pepperdine in the first inning, but Bobb stranded him at second base as he sat down the next 18 batters in a row.

Davidson broke that streak when he led off the seventh with a single. He advanced all the way to third base when the right fielder mishandled the ball. Joe Sever hit a sac fly put the Waves on the board. The Waves’ second run came in their final at bat. Vincej singled and scored on a double down the right field line by Davidson.

For San Francisco, Maffei, Balog, Lemasters and Morioka all had two hits.

The two teams will continue the West Coast Conference series Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pepperdine’s Scott Frazier (5-3, 3.31 ERA) likely facing off with Alex Balog (3-3, 2.94 ERA)
