How close was Mercer to sneaking in this week? I haven’t wrote on here in a while, but the Bears are playing much better of late winning their last two weekend series including a near sweep of Belmont this past weekend.

MM25RSN April 16, 2012 - 12:15 pm

If they did not lose in the 13th they were in!! I had narrowed it down to Nebraska, UT-Arlington, GSU and Mercer. I had a very hard time bumping Stony Brook because they still winning. But i looked at who they were beating and who those 4 clubs were beating so i bumped them which opened up another spot. It was really down to UT-Arlington and Mercer for last spot. I gave the nod to UTA because of the Texas A&M win and they won 2 of 3 on road and have been more consistent for entire year. But if Mercer swept Belmont id gave them the nod.

Oh no!

I demand you take UT Arlington off this list! It’s a jinx! Just me arguing for them to be on it in the past has lead to losses at Wichita St, Texas St, and SE La.

I feel sick.

MM25RSN April 18, 2012 - 8:58 am

hahahaha If they dont take care of NW St at home they will be off the list.

How close is USC Upstate to getting back into your top 25? They are 2nd in the Atlantic Sun Conference and sport a 25-12 record. This week they play North Carolina A&T, Wofford and three games against Jacksonville. If they go 4-1 will that likely get them in?

MM25RSN April 16, 2012 - 4:13 pm

Gary, They were close no doubt. Sweeping ETSU on the road was very nice and they now are tied for 2nd in A-Sun.

It will all depends on what other teams do. But they do really need to go 4-1 this week and should probably go 5-0 but there is still a good team in Jacksonville somewhere? What the heck happened to them?

Rysmith April 16, 2012 - 5:22 pm

Look for Jacksonville to get hot like Belmont did last year. Belmont was last to get into ASUN tournament and came out champions. They also won 1 or 2 in Regional match-ups. They just need to get healthier and continue to play hard. GRINDERS

MM25RSN April 16, 2012 - 10:43 pm

I dont think anyone wants to play Jacksonville. They are or should be very talented. Walker hitting just .307 and Gulbransen just .304 what the?

OwlFan222 April 17, 2012 - 1:28 pm

How close do you have Kennesaw St from getting in.

OwlFan222 April 17, 2012 - 3:06 pm

Don’t know what happen to my earlier post, but he it is again. How close do you have Kennesaw St. from getting on the list?

MM25RSN April 18, 2012 - 9:00 am

Kennesaw St was close probably 4th one out. It would have been hard to keep out if they finished sweep of Stetson. Like i said a week or so ago i like Kennesaw St and have seen them play. They have some good young players too.
