For the 3rd week in row we have a new #1. The week was not kind to the top 3 ranked teams, as they went a combined 3-10 for the week.
Missouri St (19-6) takes over the top spot with a 4-0 week (won 7 in row overall). The Bears picked up a mid-week win at SE Missouri St before sweeping Creighton to open MVC play.
TCU (12-9) entered the week at #1 but fell to #6 after dropping a mid week game at Texas St and losing 2 of 3 at New Mexico……Texas St (14-9) started the week great picking up a 8-4 win over TCU on Tuesday. The Bobcats then traveled to Sam Houston St and were swept. The 1-3 week dropped them to #5 in rankings and the dropped them to 4-5 in the SLC………Stetson (16-8) finished the week 1-4 dropping 7 spots to #11. The Hatters traveled to Tallahassee mid week and lost 17-8 and 9-1 to Florida St. In Atlantic Sun play Stetson traveled to Belmont losing the first 2 games by a combined score of 28-4. In game 1 Stetson’s ace and 2011 A-Sun pitcher of year Kurt Schluter got roughed up for 15 H, 12 R, 4 HR in just 3.1 innings. The Hatters were able to salvage 1 game winning 6-4 in 10 innings on Sunday.
RISING
- Louisville (18-6) moves up 4 spots to #2 with a perfect 4-0 week. The Cardinals beat Ohio St 20-0 on Tuesday and swept Cincinnati in Big East play.
- San Diego (20-6) jumps 7 spots and enters the top 10 for first time in 2012 at #7. The Toreros won at rival San Diego St 5-1 Tuesday and beat Santa Clara 6-5 and 4-2 to start WCC play.
- Gonzaga (16-6) also makes a big move climbing 8 spots to #8 winning all 4 games vs Hawaii. It has been a roller coaster ride early in season for Gonzaga, who started season 10-0, followed that up by losing 6 of 8 before this week sweep of Hawaii.
- SE Louisiana (18-6) moves up 7 spots to #14 after another impressive week. The Lions swept a solid UT-Arlington in Southland play and have won 8 of their last 9 games.
- Coastal Carolina (16-6) slides up 2 spot to #20 with sweep of Albany and extending their winning streak to 10 games.
- Indiana St (19-5) moves up 1 spot to #22 with a 3-1 week. The Sycamores saw their 13 game win streak end with loss at Evansville but still have won 19 of 21 games.
FALLING
- Pepperdine (16-8) drop 4 spots to #12 with a 2-3 week. The Waves finished their series with Kent St on Monday winning 6-4 and beat Long Beach St 12-2 Tuesday. Texas A&M traveled to Pepperdine for weekend series winning all 3 games (4-0, 9-2, 12-5).
- Appalachian St (18-5) dropped 2 of 3 at Elon to fall 5 spots to #16. The Mountaineers dropped a rainy opener Friday 10-8, won 5-0 Saturday and lost the rubber match 11-2 on Sunday to lose their first weekend series of year.
- Santa Clara (13-6) fell 3 spots to #21 losing both games at San Diego. Saturday’s game at San Diego was the Broncos 1st game in 13 days.
- Stony Brook (14-8) slid 5 spots to #25. The Seawolves went 3-2 on week dropping a double header on Sunday at Holy Cross.
DROPPED OUT
Only one team dropped out of the rankings. #17 Troy (11-11) dropped out of the rankings with a 2-2 week. The Trojans beat Alabama Tuesday before losing 2 of 3 at Arkansas Little Rock in Sun Belt play. The series loss at Arkansas Little Rock was the 3 weekend series in a row the Trojans have lost dropping them out of rankings.
IN
There were 2 or 3 teams that made great cases to get in the top 25 but in the end there was only one spot. New Mexico St (21-8) enters the rankings at #18 after a great 6-0 week. The Aggies traveled to Arizona mid week and swept the 2 game series by scores of 7-4 and 13-8. After taking the 2 games mid week from Arizona the Aggies won all 4 games vs Texas-Pan American over the weekend. New Mexico St has won 12 in row overall.
OTHER NOTABLE RESULTS
- Campbell (23-3). Not many teams in the country are hotter than the Camels, who has won an impressive 18 games in a row for the longest current win streak in nation and is tied with Florida for second longest of the season behind Kentucky’s 22 game win streak which was ended by Tennessee this weekend.
- St Louis (19-5) has 2nd longest current win streak at 13 games and counting.
- Sam Houston St (14-9) swept Texas St in Southland play.
- Lipscomb (10-14) swept Mercer in A-Sun play.

 Alright Sunbelt1 i took quick look. Im glad you did ask that cause i have not really looked at too many individual stats. But a kid i had preseason 2nd team AA DH from SE Missouri St Trenton Moses his putting up some crazy numbers. .467, 43 H, 7 2B, 12 HR, 36 RBI, and a amazing .590 OB%. HOLLY CRAP

Brian, First of all, great job with this poll. This is my first time on this site. I have one question: Why are the Big East and Big Ten considered mid majors. I am sure it has something to do with the fact that they are not traditionally strong college baseball conferences, conference RPI, etc., but I still have a hard time digesting them being a mid major when most of these schools are much larger and have larger athletic budgets. Just curious. Thanks

you are 100% correct. One that sounds really really odd is calling Nebraska a mid-major? But going to the B10 has put them in the mid major class by the definition just about everyone uses for baseball(conferences outside the “Big 6”).Â
Is there a site that tells what programs in D-1 baseball are fully funded or were they stand in thatÂ
area?Â
