Esmay Reacts Following Arizona State’s 3-2 Extra Inning Win

Brady Rodgers went nine innings.LONG BEACH, Calif. — The Arizona State Sun Devils continued Long Beach State’s late-game woes by taking a 3-2 victory in 12 innings Friday night at Blair Field.

Starting pitchers Brady Rodgers and Shawn Stuart dueled to a stalemate after both right handers pitched nine innings and allowed two runs. But Arizona State was able to get a run in the 12th inning off reliever Eddie Magallon when Andrew Aplin singled home James McDonald.

After the game, I talked to Sun Devils head coach Tim Esmay about the extra inning affair. Esmay discusses Rodgers and Stuart’s performances as well as his team continuing to battle this season despite knowing ASU can’t go to the postseason. Esmay also mentions his commitment to getting a number of guys some early looks and how that has paid off so far:
