RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The San Diego Toreros needed a five-run comeback in their final two at bats Tuesday night at Riverside Sports Complex, but they won their fifth consecutive game to improve to 6-2 on the season.

Leading the way offensively has been All-American candidate Kris Bryant, who drove in the game-winning run with a double in the ninth inning Tuesday.

The 6-foot-5 sophomore third baseman is batting .484 with three doubles, a home run and 10 RBI through the first eight games. He has a .579 on base percentage and hadn’t struck out until the first inning against Riverside. Bryant was also named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday after going 9-for-14 with a double, home run and nine RBI last week.

Bryant has also had plenty of help in the middle of the lineup as Corey LeVier and Bryant Haar are both batting well above .400 so far this season.

Toreros head coach Rich Hill discusses Tuesday’s comeback win over UC Riverside, Bryant and the middle of the lineup, and his team’s success the last week:
