Hello everyone! Now that the final whistle of the Super Bowl sounded it’s officially BASEBALL SEASON! As a very disgruntled Miami Dolphin fan living in Patriot, Jet, and Giant land this season couldn’t have ended any sooner, but it was a very well-played game.

This has been an extremely mild winter in the Northeast which has been great for the start of our spring season. Normally practices in January and early February are relegated to inside our gym or even a parking lot for some ground balls or throwing. This year Post University has a new 3.2 million dollar multi-purpose turf field which has been great to help get us ready for our very difficult schedule we have set in front of us. Our non conference schedule which has four teams in the Top 25 National Poll, will help get us ready for our grueling CACC schedule which no game is a cupcake game. Our team goals are set very high this year but we are focusing every day just to get better and not look past the first pitch of our game with Franklin Pierce.

Some D2 schools have opened up and the pre season polls have been released. We find ourselves receiving votes in the Northeast Regional Poll while we lost 11 players off the 2011 team we do return our second team all region RHP Steve Corbett who was number 9 in the country in ERA last season and our big “ginger” Cutler Ruby from Texas who gives us a solid 1-2 on the mound. John “Bama” Jeanes who had a very productive sophomore year looks ready to take another jump. Our fresh faces in the rotation are transfers Kevin Collinge (who twitter followers do not compare to mine) from Gateway CC in Arizona who has looked great this spring and 6’5 RHP Jackson Geary from Coastal Carolina who will help take this pitching staff to another level. With all of these arms it is leaving Coach Irwin to be a very happy guy around the ball park this season. Our bullpen of Sean “Cheekaboo” Slyvester, Hayden Allred, Steve Kimmelman, Nick Bologna, and Phil Sirois will help shut down the end of the ball game whenever they are called on. Under the watchful eye of Coach Irwin he will have our pitchers ready to go for the season and keep this bunch moving forward. It is a good thing we do not have a video camera following these guys around.

I know I am going to hear it from the hitters for not mentioning them but don’t worry guys I’ll get to you guys next week. Thanks for taking the time out to check out the blog this week. We are 15 days away until we are loading up our coach bus with all of the classic movies from Anchor Man to all the season of East Bound and Down. This is an interesting bunch but one that is very focused and determined to get better every day. Make sure to follow me on twitter @CoachRix8 you will get a lot of insight into this team and as a bonus it will make Kevin Collinge go crazy that might followers are higher than his. See you guys next week !
