Boston College releases 2012 Schedule

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team released the 2012 schedule on Tuesday. For a second year in a row, the 56-game slate begins with a tournament in Myrtle Beach and concludes with nine of the last 13 games at home.

In 2012, the Eagles will face 11 teams from the 2011 NCAA Tournament, including two (North Carolina and Virginia) that advanced to the College World Series and two (Connecticut and Florida State) that went on to Super Regionals.

Michigan Baseball Names Wayne Welton Volunteer Assistant Coach

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan baseball program and head coach Rich Maloney have announced the addition of Wayne Welton as its volunteer assistant coach, it was announced today (Tuesday, Dec. 13).Welton will work with the Wolverine outfielders as well as helping out in the day-to-day activities of Michigan baseball.

“Wayne was a great high school coach and athletic director and has been working our camps since I’ve been a head coach here,” Maloney said. “Wayne’s very well respected in the baseball community. He’s been the president of the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association in the past and has built a strong reputation for being an outstanding baseball coach. I think Wayne brings his wealth of experience that will be very beneficial to our staff and players.”

Holy Cross releases 2012 Schedule

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross baseball team has released its 2012 schedule, announced by athletic director Richard M. Regan, Jr. and head coach Greg DiCenzo. Harvard releases 2012 Schedule

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 2012 Harvard baseball schedule is now complete and available for viewing. Head coach Joe Walsh’s team will play a 40-game regular season schedule beginning March 2.

Top 100 Countdown: 43. Max Muncy (Baylor)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 43 with Baylor junior first baseman Max Muncy. The Keller, Texas native attended Keller High School where he was a three year letterwinner for Rob Stramp. In his three year high school career, he hit 22 homers and 46 doubles while being named a two-time All-District 5-5A selection, 2009 Under Armour All-American, 2009 Class 5A all-state selection, and 2008 First-Pitch Classic all-tournament member.  Read the rest of this entry »

Big West Announces Addition of San Diego State In 2013-14

The Big West Conference Board of Directors today announced the addition of San Diego State University as a member of the Conference effective July 1, 2013.  San Diego State becomes the eleventh Conference member institution.

Long Beach State University President Dr. F. King Alexander, Chair of the Big West Board of Directors, made the announcement. “The Big West Conference’s success at attracting both Hawai‘i and now San Diego State is due to its strong stability especially during a very unstable period of national conference realignment.  SDSU will bring to the Big West a very large market adding to the national standing of the conference.  They are a very good university with a rich history and will fit in very well with the other 10 strong institutions.”

Top 100 Countdown: 44. Adam Brett Walker (Jacksonville)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 44 with Jacksonville junior outfielder Adam Brett Walker. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native attended Milwaukee Lutheran High School where he was a three year starter. His senior season saw him named all-state, all-area and all-conference. His junior season saw him earn multiple awards also being named all-state, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel All-Area and first team all-conference after batting a school-record .569 (33-58) with eight home runs and a 1.121 slugging percentage. Alabama State releases 2012 Schedule

Western Kentucky Lends a Hand at Salvation Army

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Several members of the Western Kentucky University baseball spent time earlier this week lending a hand at the local Salvation Army.

Alabama Spreads Christmas Cheer at Sprayberry Education Center

Western Michigan participates in the Fuel Up to Play 60 Program

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Head coach Billy Gernon and members of the bronco baseball team participated in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program at Moorsbridge Elementary School earlier this week.

Fuel Up to Play 60 (www.fueluptoplay60.com) is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by National Dairy Council (NDC) and NFL, in collaboration with the USDA, to combat childhood obesity. Fuel Up to Play 60 helps students make positive changes in their schools by improving opportunities to consume nutrient-rich foods and get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
