Top 100 Countdown: 44. Adam Brett Walker (Jacksonville)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 44 with Jacksonville junior outfielder Adam Brett Walker. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native attended Milwaukee Lutheran High School where he was a three year starter. His senior season saw him named all-state, all-area and all-conference. His junior season saw him earn multiple awards also being named all-state, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel All-Area and first team all-conference after batting a school-record .569 (33-58) with eight home runs and a 1.121 slugging percentage.

Walker’s freshman season saw him become an everyday player with 51 appearances, including 49 starts (38 as the designated hitter, eight in right field, three at first base). He finished the season with the fourth highest batting average on the Dolphins squad at .313 with a team highs in homers (16) and RBI (58). He was named first team Freshman All-America by Louisville Slugger and NCBWA while picking up second team All-Atlantic Sun and All-Freshman Atlantic Sun.

He spent the summer of 2010 in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League with the Licking County Settlers. Walker appeared in 38 games (36 starts) with a .344 batting average while leading the league with eight homers and finishing with 35 RBI.

Walker started every game as a sophomore leading the team in all three triple crown categories with a .409 batting average with 13 homers and 75 RBI. He was named A-Sun Player of the Year and first team all-conference honors. He picked up All-American honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association, Baseball America, Louisville Slugger (Collegiate Baseball) and the NCBWA.

He struggled in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. He played in 39 games hitting four homers and driving in 17 with a .212 batting average.

Adam Brett Walker II was announced to his second (1st Team Pre-Season All American Publication) – NCBWA and Louisviulle Slugger / Collegiate Baseball  at 1st Base – He is probably a better outfielder too (versatile kid) – Go JU

NCBWA – The only player to be awarded District Player of the Year (III) who was not draft eligible last season.
