College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the countdown today at number 50 with Texas sophomore RHP Corey Knebel. The Georgetown, Texas native attended Georgetown High School where he earned one letter for head coach Danny Wallace. As a senior at Georgetown, he was named first team All-District. He spent his first three years at Bastrop High School playing for Ben Gittenger.
Knebel had one of the best freshmen campaigns in the history of Texas baseball in 2011. He finished the season with a 3-2 record including 19 saves and a 1.13 ERA in 38 innings pitched. He struck out 61 batters while walking only 12 holding opponents to a .151 batting average. He picked up several honors including being named Big 12 All-Freshmen Team (unanimous selection), All-Big 12 – First Team, Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American Team, Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-America First Team, and Collegiate Baseball Freshman Pitcher of the Year.
He played over the summer with the USA Collegiate National Team appearing in five games. He pitched a total of five games totaling five innings where he accumulated an ERA of 1.80.

Covering up the videographers voice with music is a good idea…. that way irrate parents won’t comment on it. Pointing out the flaws in a kids stats …. probably not the best way to deflect criticisms for a guy of your stature. Making your point without hurting the players reputation is probably more of an ideal goal, with great knowledge comes great responsibility. Keep up the good work.
