Top 100 Countdown: 51. Colin Moran (UNC)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 51 with UNC sophomore infielder Colin Moran. The Rye, New York native attended Iona Prep High School. He was named All-Archdiocese honors as a senior while also being a Journal News Westchester first team all-star. He was also named the team MVP as a junior and senior.

As a freshman in 2011, he appeared in all 67 games starting all but one. He led the team in all three triple crown categories with a .335 average while hitting nine homers and driving in 71 runs. His RBI total was 23 more then Levi Michael who finished second on the team. He picked up several awards including being named Baseball America All-America First Team, NCBWA Freshman All-American and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. He was also named First Team All-ACC and the ACC Freshman of the Year. He spent the summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League where he played for the Bourne Braves. He played in 29 games hitting .280 with a homer and ten RBI. He was selected to the CCBL All-Star game where he went 0-2.
