Top 100 Countdown: 27. Kevin Gausman (LSU)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 27 with LSU sophomore RHP Kevin Gausman. The Centennial, Colorado native attended Grandview High School where he was a two-time All-State selection. As a senior, he went  9-2 with a 3.12 ERA while recording 88 strikeouts and 14 walks. His junior season saw him go 7-2 with a 2.15 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 48 innings pitched.  Read the rest of this entry »

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Across the country in November and December, college baseball programs engage in offseason strength and conditioning programs with the goal of readying themselves for the regular season, which begins in February.

We continue the countdown today at number 28 with Arizona junior outfielder Robert Refsnyder. The Laguna Hills High School alum starred at the school being named First team All-CIF, Pacific Coast League MVP as a senior, and named to the All-PCL First Team as a junior. Top 100 Countdown: 29. Daniel Palka (Georgia Tech)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 29 with Georgia Tech sophomore Daniel Palka. The Lyman, South Carolina native was a five year letter winner at Greer High School under head coach Bob Massullo. In 2010, hit .470 with 14 home runs and 32 RBIs while posting a 1.80 ERA on the mound while being named All-State twice (2009 and 2010) and four-time all-area member (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010). He was drafted in the 19th round by the Philadelphia Phillies but decided to head to Georgia Tech. Read the rest of this entry »

Top 100 Countdown: 30. Brett Mooneyham (Stanford)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 30 with Stanford redshirt junior LHP Brett Mooneyham. The Atwater, California, native earned four varsity letters at Buhach High School while helping his team to four straight league titles.  He was named first team All-League in his senior season of 2008, leading the team to a Division I Championship on both the mound and at the plate. He went 9-2 with a 0.97 ERA including 103 strikeouts in 58 innings and holding opponents to a .116 batting average. At the plate, he hit .379 with 5 HR and 35 RBI.  Mooneyham’s father was a 4-time first round pick, finally signing with the Angels as the 10th pick in the 1980 June Draft.  He played 9 professional seasons, seeing time in the major leagues with the Oakland A’s in 1986. 2012 Cape Cod Baseball League Schedule Announced

HYANNIS – Commissioner Paul Galop has announced the 2012 Cape Cod Baseball League schedule.

The regular season begins June 14 with a full slate of five games, preceded by the annual Frank Finn/CCBL Invitational pre-season tryout on Saturday, June 9 at Spillane Field in Wareham. There are no scheduled doubleheaders this summer. Read the rest of this entry »

Top 100 Countdown: 31. Jeremy Baltz (St. John’s)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 31 with St. John’s junior outfielder Jeremy Baltz. The Vestal, NY native attended the local Vestal High School where he was a four-time New York State scholar-athlete. He earned a total of three letters in baseball while helping the Golden Bears win three straight sectional titles and two conference championships. He was a two-time all-division selection while being named all-conference as a senior. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 45th round in the 2009 MLB Draft but decided to attend St. John’s. Top 100 Countdown: 32. Matt Boyd (Oregon State)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 32 with Oregon State junior LHP Matt Boyd. The Mercer Island, Washington native attended Eastside Catholic High School for his final three years. During his three seasons, he helped lead the team to a  46-14 record. As a senior, he batted  .464 with seven doubles, one triple, four home runs and 27 RBI. He was also accomplished on the bump with a record of 7-2 with a 0.84 ERA in 10 appearances striking out 91 in 58 innings. He picked up several awards including  an ABCA All-Region 7 Selection as a pitcher, Washington State Co-MVP/Player of the Year, 3A All-State selection, 2009 First-Team All-Metro 3A selection, and an Under Armour Preseason All-American selection. Former Oregon State star Rob Summers Willing to Walk Again

Former Oregon State pitcher Rob Summers suffered a devastating back injury in the summer after the 2006 College World Series title that left him as a quadriplegic. This was horrible news for Summers who had dreams of playing in MLB but it didn’t deter him from recovering from the injury even though doctors told him that he would not walk again. After an intense rehab, he has seen remarkable improvement. He had regained feeling in his legs and arms while being able to walk for several minutes at a time.  Read the rest of this entry »

Siena visits Ronald McDonald House

Siena baseball visited the Ronald McDonald House this past weekend, moving holiday gifts and cooking a meal for families staying there. The visit is an annual one, and you can check out an exclusive video here!

The Springfield, virginia native attended West Springfield High School where he was a three year letter winner under John James. He posted a 28-1 record with five saves for his career and a 1.53 ERA while striking out 284 and walking only 40 in 185.0 innings of work. He picked up several awards in high school including being named the 2010 All-State Player of the Year in Virginia and 2010 All-Met Player of the Year by the Washington Post.
