College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.
We continue the countdown today at number 54 with North Carolina sophomore LHP Kent Emanuel. The 6’4 205 pounder out of Woodstock High School and Woodstock, Georgia was named All-county, all-region and all-state selection as a senior. The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted in the 19th round in the 2010 MLB Draft but he decided to head to North Carolina to continue his baseball career.
Emanuel stepped right into the weekend rotation as a freshman in 2011 helping to lead the team to the College World Series. He made 20 appearances (16 starts) going 9-1 with a 2.33 ERA. He tossed two complete games on the year including a complete game shutout against Texas in an elimination game.
He pitched the summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Falmouth Commodores. He struggled going 0-4 with a 4.18 ERA in five starts.

Kent is a stud. the summer cape cod stats have no relevance to how good this kid is. he was most likely worn down from a long college season. he is having a helluva year as a sophomore right now and will be a first rounder come 2013 when he is eligible
