Hawaii’s Mike Trapasso Signs New Three-Year Contract

HONOLULU – University of Hawai’i baseball coach Mike Trapasso has signed a new three-year contract through the 2014 season, Athletics Director Jim Donovan announced.

“A few years back I asked Mike to focus on winning the WAC and getting our baseball team into the NCAA post-season tournament,” Donovan said. “I’m pleased that Coach Trap has done both – winning the WAC regular season last year and winning the WAC Tournament and going to the NCAA regionals the year before. This is a trend I expect to continue based on the improved local and mainland student-athletes being recruited to be on our baseball team.” Read the rest of this entry »

UCLA announces Facility Upgrades

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA baseball program has begun construction to install 580 additional chairback seats at Steele Field at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Funded by the Gifford Foundation, the seat renovation project is expected to be completed in December 2011 and will allow the facility to seat 1,820 fans on a regular basis. Baylor releases 2012 Schedule

WACO, Texas – Baylor’s 56-game 2012 baseball schedule features 28 games against teams that competed in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, highlighted by a three-game non-conference series at UCLA. College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 86 with Oregon sophomore RHP Ryon Healy. The 6’5” 215 pound right-handed pitcher out of West Hills, California was an All-State player at Crespi Carmelite High School. October 19th Fall Ball Update

Here is your Fall Ball Update for October 19th.

Washington: Gold 12 Purple 7

SEATTLE – The Gold Squad won game one, 12-7, as the Husky baseball team opened its annual Fall World Series Tuesday night at Husky Ballpark.

Freshmen Michael Camporeale and Robert Pehl each drove in three runs for the victorious Gold team. Junior college transfer Mac Acker picked up the win, going four innings and allowing four hits while striking out four. Austin Voth came on in the sixth inning of the seven-inning game and got the final out to preserve a 9-7 lead and Josh Fedendall closed it out in the seventh. Read the rest of this entry »

CBD Poll: Was Jordan Etier’s Punishment Justified?

It was announced on Monday that the University of Texas had dismissed Jordan Eiter from the baseball team after being arrested on Saturday evening for marijuana possession and resisting arrest. We continue the countdown today at number 87 with Louisville sophomore RHP Jeff Thompson. The 6’6 265 pound right-handed pitcher out of Greenville, Indiana attended Floyd Central High School. Florida State shines in Exhibition on Monday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In the first live action of the fall baseball season, the Florida State Seminoles defeated the Ontario Blue Jays 18-3 in a 14-inning exhibition game Monday afternoon on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium.
