East Carolina Announces 2012 Baseball Schedule

2012 Big Ten/Big East Challenge Schedule Released

PARK RIDGE, Ill. – The Big East and Big Ten conferences, in conjunction with the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Sports Commission, today released the schedule for the fourth annual Big Ten/Big East Baseball Challenge. The 2012 Challenge will feature 10 teams from the Big Ten and nine teams from the Big East playing 30 games over three days to open the college baseball season from Feb. 17-19. Texas releases 2012 Schedule

The Texas Longhorns have released their 2012 schedule which features five out of conferences series against teams from the Pac-12, ACC, and West Coast Conference.

The Longhorns will open the season on Febrauary 17th when the Duke Blue Devils visit town for the start of a three game set. They will follow that series up with a single home game against UT-Arlington before heading to Stanford for a three game series.  Read the rest of this entry »

Top 100 Countdown: 99. Patrick Cantwell (Stony Brook)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today with Stony Brook senior catcher Patrick Cantwell who is 99th in on our list. The senior has had an outstanding career with the Seawolves which has seen him win multiple conference awards. He played three years of varsity baseball at West Islip HS and was a three-time captain. As a senior, he hit .477 with 31 runs, eight triples, two home runs and 33 RBIs. Read the rest of this entry »

Furman releases 2012 Schedule

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Five games at Fluor Field, including a clash against two-time reigning national champion South Carolina, highlight Furman’s 2012 baseball schedule, which was released today by Paladin head coach Ron Smith.

Furman will play the Gamecocks on Mar. 20 at Fluor Field as part of a 32-game home schedule that also features contests with Michigan State (Feb. 24), Miami of Ohio (Feb. 25), Maine (Feb. 26), and Clemson (Apr. 10) at the beautiful downtown facility, which serves as the home of the Single A South Atlantic League Greenville Drive. Top 100 Countdown: 100. Joe Sclafani (Dartmouth)

College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We start off the countdown today at number 100 with Dartmouth senior shortstop Joe Sclafani from Palm City, Florida and attended Jensen Beach High School. He was a four year letter winner in baseball for Coach Todd Belowich. He helped lead the team as the starting shortstop to a 41-14 record as a junior and senior winning the District 14 title and the Regional runnerup in his final two seasons.  Read the rest of this entry »

October 3rd Fall Ball Recap

Here is your Fall Ball Recap for October 3rd.

Purdue: Black 4 Gold 4

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Sean McHugh and Stephen Talbott both drove in a pair of runs for their respective teams, but game three of Purdue baseball’s Black and Gold Series was tied 4-4 after nine innings when the game was suspended until next week.

The Black team jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on an RBI single from Jon Bradford in the second inning and a two-run double from Talbott in the following frame. Read the rest of this entry »

Big East looking to Expand

The Big East conference is looking to ”aggressively pursue” expansion according to commissioner John Marinatto after a five hour meeting with league presidents on Sunday. It was the first time that the league presidents have met since Pitt and Syracuse announced on September 16th that they will leave the Big East to the ACC.  Read the rest of this entry »

Fall Ball Recaps for October 2nd

Here is a listing of Fall Ball Recaps from the last couple of days around College Baseball.

Purdue: Black 11 Gold 10

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - An early 8-0 lead helped the Black team withstand a valiant comeback effort and earn an 11-10 victory in game two of Purdue baseball’s Black & Gold Series Friday afternoon at Lambert Field.

The win allowed the Black team to a two games to none lead in the five-game fall series. Game three is set for Sunday at 2 p.m. Read the rest of this entry »

Texas Tech Participates in Race For The Cure

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech baseball program was among over 8,000 participants at the 2011 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday morning at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.

Texas Tech head coach Dan Spencer and his son, Wade, participated in the 5K race while the team lined the streets and encouraged all of runners in the race and helped navigate the course. Read the rest of this entry »
