PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University baseball team is scheduled to play 24 games in 2012 against teams that participated in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship last season, Cougar Head Coach Donnie Marbut announced, Wednesday.

Of the 24 games, 19 will take place against Pac-12 schools, including 18 conference meetings. Washington State will play 28 games on the road, one at neutral site, and 27 in Pullman. The Cougars begin their 2012 campaign with a three-game series at Mississippi State (Feb. 17-19).

“We have a challenging schedule,” Marbut said. “We have a good balance of home and away games. Adding Utah to the Pac-12 gives us another three-game series against a quality opponent.”

Washington State opens its home slate with a four-game set against Nebraska-Omaha (Feb. 24-26) followed by a four-game visit to Bailey-Brayton Field by Northern Colorado (March 2-4).

The Cougars embark an eight-game road trip that will take them to UNLV (March 9-11) for three games before single game dates with Cal State Fullerton (March 13) and UC Irvine (March 14). Washington State wraps up the road trip at Arizona (March 16-18), its first Pac-12 series of the season.

A home game against Gonzaga (March 20) precedes a four-game road trip to UCLA (March 23-25) and Long Beach State (March 26).

Washington State follows with nine of its next 10 games at home. The Cougars will host USC (March 30-April 1) before stepping out of conference to play at Gonzaga (April 3) and at home for three games against Seattle (April 5-7). The Cougars culminate the stretch with a series against Utah (April 13-15).

The Cougars and Bulldogs meet in Spokane (April 17) for their third and final duel of the season before Washington State travels to Oregon (April 20-22). A single game at Seattle (April 23) will take place prior to returning to Pullman.

Washington State hosts Arizona State (April 27-29) and California (May 4-6) for a six-game homestand. The Cougars will square off against Portland (May 8) in Pasco, Wash.

A series at Stanford (May 11-13) will be followed by a nonconference match-up with the Golden Bears (May 14). The final home weekend of the season is scheduled against Oregon State (May 18-20).

The Cougars finish their regular season at Washington (May 25-27).
