The Mavericks will play 10 games against national tournament teams, starting at Texas on Feb. 21. They will also play at Oklahoma (Feb. 28) and at Texas A&M (April 10). The slate also includes two games against Dallas Baptist (at DBU on March 20 and at Clay Gould Ballpark on May 1), two against TCU (at Clay Gould Ballpark on March 27 and at TCU on April 11) and three against Texas State (at Clay Gould Ballpark from March 9-11).
UTA also has a home-and-home scheduled with Baylor from the Big 12. The schedule also features a two-game road trip at Wichita State.
“Once again I think we have put together a challenging non-conference schedule,” Thomas said. “That is something I am proud of because I think in the end playing against better competition helps our team play better. We enjoy playing the elite programs in the area and look forward to doing so again in 2012.”
UT Arlington will open the season with a three-game homestand against Louisiana Tech, starting Friday, Feb. 17 at Clay Gould Ballpark.
The following weekend, UTA hosts the UT Arlington Invitational. The tournament will feature four teams – UT Arlington, Houston Baptist, Missouri State and Stephen F. Austin.
The Mavericks play home non-conference games against Stephen F. Austin and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in addition to the three-game Southland Conference games.
UTA opens the conference season with a three-game set against Texas State from March 9-11 at Clay Gould Ballpark. The Mavs also host Central Arkansas (March 30-April 1), University of Dallas (April 3), Nicholls (April 5-7), Northwestern State (April 20-22), Sam Houston State (May 4-6) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (May 17-19).
