CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State baseball team announced its 2012 schedule on Monday, which features 24 home dates and a 56-game slate.

Nineteen of the 56 games are scheduled with teams that made the 2011 NCAA Tournament, including three at the Nike College Showcase at Goss Stadium March 9-11.

The 2012 schedule also marks the first season for the Pac-12 Conference, and with the addition of Utah, the Beavers will now play 30 league contests, up from 27 last season.

“I’m very excited about our 2012 schedule,” Oregon State head coach Pat Casey said. “We have a great home schedule for our fans at Goss Stadium and have some exciting trips for this club. The Pac-12 is going to be tough as usual and our non-conference schedule has some great matchups.”

The Beavers will play their first 12 games of the season away from home. OSU opens the 2012 season with a four-game series against UC Santa Barbara and first-year head coach Andrew Checketts, a former Oregon State All-American on the mound. The series starts Feb. 17 and is the opening day for the NCAA Division I schedule.

Oregon State will play in two tournaments following the trip to California. The Beavers will first play in a tournament co-hosted by San Diego State and San Diego and will play both the Aztecs and Toreros in addition to Pacific and Kansas State. Following the trip to San Diego, the Beavers will take on Winthrop, Northwestern, Saint Mary’s and St. Louis at the Coca-Cola Classic in Surprise, Ariz.

Oregon State’s first home game of the 2012 season comes March 9 against West Virginia. It’s the first of four games at Goss over the weekend as Oregon State will co-host the Nike College Showcase with Oregon. Five of the 12 games over the three days will be at Goss, and the Beavers will also welcome Connecticut, Illinois and Oklahoma to Corvallis.

The Huskies, Fighting Illini and Sooners all played in the postseason in 2011.

The addition of Utah to the Pac-12 necessitated the addition of two weeks to the league schedule and OSU will open its conference slate March 16 at California.

Each of the 11 Pac-12 teams will play an 11-week conference schedule with one weekend coming as a bye. The Beavers’ bye takes place April 13-15 when OSU takes on Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a non-conference series at Goss Stadium.

Oregon State hosts Arizona (March 23-25), Washington (March 30-April 1), UCLA (April 20-22), Stanford (May 4-6) and Oregon (May 25-27) in conference games. In addition to Cal, the Beavers will visit Arizona State (April 5-7), USC (April 27-29), Utah (May 11-13) and Washington State (May 18-20) in league action.

Other non-conference opponents include Nevada in Reno (April 9-10), Oregon in Eugene (April 24 and May 8) and Portland (March 27 in Portland, April 3 and May 15 in Corvallis).

The 2012 postseason begins June 1 with NCAA Regional action. NCAA Super Regionals will be held June 8-11 with the College World Series being held June 15-26.
