Here is your October 22nd Fall Ball Update.

Marshall: Green 5 Black 2

HUNTINGTON, W.VA. – The Marshall baseball team started the annual Fall World Series on Friday afternoon and Coach Waggoner’s green team ran away with it in the end against Coach Blain’s black team, 5-2. The competition was the first of six games planned for the Fall World Series and had a seven inning format.

The competition featured Ryan Hopkins as the black team’s starting pitcher and Aaron Blair as the black’s starter on the mound.

Rhode Island: Keaney 2 Navy 2

KINGSTON, R.I. – The Keaney and Navy teams played to a 2-2 tie in Game Two of the Keaney-Navy World Series, Friday afternoon at Bill Beck Field.

St. John’s: Red 8 Black 2

QUEENS, N.Y. – Kyle Richardson went 4-for-4 with three RBI to pace a 16-hit barrage as Red evened the Intrasquad World Series at one game apiece with an 8-2 triumph against Black. Michael Bradshaw went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the seven inning contest, while Zach Lauricella, Dan Roland and Vince Tranchina added two hits apiece for Red. Stephen Rivera allowed just one run on three hits in 6.0 innings of work on the mound for Red. Eric Peterson was 3-for-3 and Julien Plana went 2-for-3 with an RBI to pace Black.

Richardson and Pat Talbut led off the top of the first inning with back-to-back singles and both came around to score as Red took an early 2-0 lead. Richardson was then plunked with the bases loaded in the second inning to put Red up 3-0.

Ohio State: Scarlet 5 Gray 4

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ryan Leffel’s solo home run to left in the bottom of the sixth kept Scarlet alive with a 5-4 win in Game 3 of the Scarlet & Gray World Series Friday night at Bill Davis Stadium. Gray still holds a 2-1 series lead heading into Game 4 at 3 p.m. tomorrow at Bill Davis Stadium.

Gray took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Mike Carroll doubled to left-center to drive in Kirby Pellant, who had singled to lead off the inning. The visitors then used a single, a pair of walks and two fielder’s choices to push the lead to 3-0 in the third.
