Here is your October 13th Fall Ball Update.

Seton Hall: Blue 4 White 1

After a close win by the Blue Team in game 4 of the Fall Pirate World Series, the Blue and White Teams matched up at Owen T. Carroll Field on Saturday afternoon for a seven inning game.

With the series tied at two games apiece, the Blue Team sent junior pitcher Greg Terhune to the mound to start game 5.  Terhune pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out three batters.

In the bottom of the fifth, White sent outfielder John Beaubien to the plate to face lefty Dan Ditusa.  Beaubien walked, and was moved to second by a ground out to the pitcher by catcher Dom Auriemma.  The next batter, junior Connor Delepine doubled to left center scoring Beaubien, and giving White the 1-0 lead

East Carolina: Purple 6 Gold 5

GREENVILLE, N.C. -Chase McDonald’s three-run home run helped the Purple team to a 6-5 win in six innings Wednesday afternoon in Game 4 of the Purple-Gold World Series at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium.

In the bottom of the first inning McDonald, who was 1-for-3 in the game, sent an 0-1 offering from Jeff Hoffman to left center giving Purple an early 3-0 advantage. With one out in the frame, Ben Fultz single to left center and John Wooten followed with a single to right setting up McDonald’s first round-tripper of the fall.

Freshman Deshorn Lake (1-0) picked up the win despite allowing five runs (all earned) on seven hits with four walks over three innings of work. Hoffman (0-1) suffered the loss surrendering six runs (five earned) on six hits with one punch out in three innings.

North Carolina: Blue 9 White 5

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Knotted in a 5-5 tie after five innings the Blue Team exploded for a four-run sixth inning en route to a series-clinching 9-5 win over the White Team Wednesday. The teams will begin the second three game series on Friday at 6 p.m.

The White Team jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first half inning as Blue Team starter Andrew Smith issued four free passes. Seth Baldwin provided the lone hit in the inning when he doubled to left center to plate both runs for the White Team.

The Blue Team answered in the bottom half of the first pushing three runs across on four hits all with two outs. Chaz Frank led off with a single and made his way to third on a stolen base and a groundout before Cody Stubbs singed him home with a shot through the right side.

Pittsburgh: Team Vegas 8 Navy 3

PITTSBURGH – Team Vegas took a 1-0 lead over Team Navy in the University of Pittsburgh baseball team’s best-of-three Fall World Series.

Vegas won the series opener 8-3 on Tuesday behind a big hit from Boo Vazquez. The freshman broke the game open with a three-run triple in the bottom of the third inning.

Indiana: Crimson 9 Cream 6

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A five-RBI day for freshman catcher Danny Sader proved too much for the opposition to overcome as Sader and Team Crimson outlasted the Cream squad in an extra-inning affair Wednesday afternoon. Crimson takes a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series with their 9-6 victory in eight innings (scheduled seven-inning contest).

Sader tallied three run-scoring hits on the day, including a bases-clearing triple in the top of the eighth to create the eventual 9-6 final score. Crimson got up early behind a solid pitching performance from Reed Reznicek. They then held on after surrendering two different leads in the game.
