Hello again everyone,

We are about a month into fall ball here at URI. Luckily, the Rhode Island weather has cooperated so far and we’ve been able to be outside almost every day that we can – hopefully I didn’t just jinx us. Even on days when it does rain, we are able to utilize our brand new hitting barn, which is an unbelievable resource for the team. Having a facility like this to train in when the harsh Northeast weather really starts to set in will pay huge dividends for URI Baseball.

In other news, you guys all know who Tony Horton is, right? He’s the P90X guy – who also happens to be a Rhode Island native and URI alum. He was back on campus a few weeks ago and we were able to spend some time hanging out with him. Its awesome that he’s a fan of our program!

Anyhow, the competition this fall within the team has been outstanding. A couple young of the guys are really pushing the upperclassman for spots in the lineup, which – just as a whole – makes everyone a better player.

I really can’t say enough about the hard work each and every guy on the squad is putting in. That statement holds true both on and off the field. Last month, about a dozen guys – led by senior Ty Muller – participated in the Southern New England Autism Walk. This is an event that the Rhody Baseball team participates in every year on behalf of Coach Foster’s daughter Delaney, who is affected by Autism.

Although we have had a good fall so far, there is still a long way to go. Believe it or not, the season is right around the corner and everyone must buy in for us to be as successful as we know we can be.

Until Next Time,
Mike Le Bel
