PRINCETON – Trips to Florida Atlantic and defending National Champion South Carolina, along with nine home dates, highlight the 2011 Princeton baseball schedule, announced today by Scott Bradley, the Robert H. B. Baldwin ’42 Head Coach of Baseball at Princeton. Princeton was the 2010 Ivy League Baseball Champion.

Princeton opens the season with a trip to Florida Atlantic for four games in three days March 2-4. Princeton has played at FAU four times over the years, last taking on the Owls in the 1999 season during a Spring Break trip to Florida. That season also marked the last time Princeton played in the state of Florida as the Tigers took on Miami, Purdue, FAU and Iona during that weeklong trip.

The Tigers will make their second weekend road trip of the season the following weekend with a three-game series at South Carolina against the two-time defending National Champion. The Tigers last played South Carolina in 1973 and last visited Columbia for the 2001 NCAA Regionals where Princeton played Central Florida twice and The Citadel.

The following weekend Princeton embarks on its weeklong Spring Break trip through Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland. The week starts with three games at Richmond and continues with midweek stops at North Carolina, UNC Greensboro and North Carolina A&T. Princeton last faced Richmond in the 2008 season, taking all three games from the Spiders. The Tigers have played all three midweek opponents in each of the past three seasons. Princeton concludes its Spring Break trip with a four-game series at Navy. The teams have played a series against one another in four-straight and five of the last six seasons.

The Tigers open their home schedule on March 31 at Clarke Field with a doubleheader against Rolfe Division Champion Dartmouth. The two teams met in the Ivy League Championship Series last season with Princeton winning the series two games to one. Dartmouth won both regular season meetings at home. The following day Princeton will host Harvard for a doubleheader and three days later Rutgers will visit campus for a non-conference game.

Princeton goes on the road the first weekend of April to Yale and Brown to conclude Ivy crossover play. The Tigers then return home for a midweek contest with Seton Hall before hosting Penn for four games on April 14-15. A midweek game at St. John’s follows before four games at Columbia the following weekend.

The Tigers will conclude the season with a midweek game at Rider before a home-and-home series with Cornell to close out the regular season. The best-of-three Ivy League Championship Series will be held the first weekend of May between the Gehrig and Rolfe Division Champions.
