Pittsburgh promotes Danny Lopaze and hire Dan Lipari

University of Pittsburgh head baseball coach Joe Jordano has promoted Danny Lopaze to the position of associate head coach, the program announced Thursday. Additionally, Dan Lipari has been added to the Panthers’ staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2012 season.

Lopaze is set to begin his fourth season on the Pitt coaching staff, serving as the team’s recruiting coordinator and the hitting coach. Read the rest of this entry »

Fordham completes 2012 Coaching Staff

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham baseball coach Kevin Leighton announced his coaching staff for the 2012 season, hiring former Siena assistant coach Jimmy Jackson as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, while retaining the services of Assistant Coach Jerry DeFabbia, Volunteer Assistant Coach Joe Mandile, and Director of Baseball Operations Tony Mellaci from last year’s coaching staff. Arizona State releases 2012 Schedule

Who has the Worst Uniforms in College Baseball?

Unless you live in a cave or under a rock, you saw the terrible Maryland Terrapins football uniforms that they featured last night on ESPN during their showdown with the Miami Hurricanes. Here are some of the worst uniforms in the history of College Baseball that we were able to come across. This includes some current day uniforms from Virginia Tech’s multiple crazy uniforms to Florida State playing with banana yellow uniforms (yes, pants too) during the late 80′s and early 90′s.

There are rumors that the Texas Longhorns had a full orange uniform in the 70′s or 80′s but we have not been able to confirm or deny the existence of such a uniform.

Red Sox Lowrie gets his Stanford Degree

Steve Buckley of The Boston Herald profiled former Stanford Cardinal Jed Lowrie who recently completed his degree. Lowrie decided to sign with the Red Sox after his junior season at Stanford in 2005. He spent part of a couple of offseasons working on his degree but ended up getting too involved in baseball complete the requirements. DeLand, Fla. – Stetson Head Baseball Coach Pete Dunn unveiled the 2012 schedule for his defending Atlantic Sun Conference regular season champion Hatters on Wednesday. The 56-game slate features 16 contests against fellow 2010 NCAA Tournament teams, 34 home games at Melching Field, the first matchup with five-time national champion Miami since 2007 (150th overall vs. the Hurricanes) and the return of the A-Sun Championships to Melching Field. Nebraska releases 2012 Schedule

Lincoln – The Nebraska baseball team released its 2012 schedule on Friday, as the Huskers will play 31 home games at Hawks Field and will have 13 contests against 2011 NCAA Tournament teams, including a four-game home stand against 2011 College World Series qualifier California. The 56-game schedule starts with 10 games on the road before the Huskers host their home opener against former Big 12 foe Kansas State on Tuesday, March 6. The Huskers will play eight Big Ten Conference series, with the only conference teams not on the schedule including Penn State and Michigan State, as well as Wisconsin, which doesn’t have a baseball program.
