Here are your Scrimmage Updates for September 22nd as North Carolina held a intrasquad scrimmage while Butler faced off with the Ontario Blue Jays.

UNC Scrimmage: Navy 5 Blue 5

Florida releases 2012 Schedule

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida baseball program and fifth-year head coach Kevin O’Sullivan announced its 2012 schedule on Thursday. The Gators’ 56-game schedule features 35 games within the friendly confines of McKethan Stadium at Perry Field, where the squad registered a 34-7 (.829) mark last season and is 124-26 (.827) during O’Sullivan’s tenure. The UC-Irvine athletic programs got together and put together a welcome back video for the student body. The group of athletic teams including baseball sing along to the 80′s classic “Love Shack” and they don’t do it that well at all. UNLV names Chuck Hazzard as Director of Baseball Operations

CBD Visit: Auburn opens up Fall Practice

The Auburn University baseball team began their first fall season practices on Wednesday, September 21st, with much anticipation and excitement for their future. After coming off a second straight SEC Tournament appearance in the 2011 season, the Tigers lost most of their starters to the MLB first-year player draft. While some may consider this a devastating loss for the team, the Tigers managed to recruit 17 newcomers–12 incoming freshman and 5 transfers–to pick up the slack. Read the rest of this entry »

Liberty set to name Matt Hagen as Assistant Coach

College Baseball Daily has learned that Matt Hagen will be named the volunteer assistant coach at Liberty. Hagen fills the spot on the staff with the recent departure of Adam Ward who was named pitching coach at Charleston Southern. Hagen is well familiar in Lynchburg as he played at Liberty getting drafted in the 12 round by the Seattle Mariners in 2002. Read the rest of this entry »

USC names Eric Munson Undergraduate Assistant Coach

LOS ANGELES– Eric Munson, a former USC All-American catcher and third overall pick in the 1999 major league baseball draft has been named Trojan undergraduate assistant coach, USC head coach Frank Cruz announced today.

Munson joins assistant head coach Dan Hubbs, assistant coach Gabe Alvarez and volunteer assistant Jason Brown on the 2011-12 coaching staff. All four individuals played at USC. Read the rest of this entry »

Wake Forest releases 2012 Schedule

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest head baseball coach Tom Walter has announced the Demon Deacons’ schedule for the upcoming 2012 season, which features a 56-game slate.

The Deacs will enjoy the majority of their games in Winston-Salem at Gene Hooks Field at Wake Forest Baseball Park with 32 home games compared to 24 games on the road. Pitt’s Joe Jordano talks about the move to the ACC

Pittsburgh head baseball coach Joe Jordano recently discussed his feelings about moving over the ACC in the coming years. ”With the move to the Atlantic Coast Conference, the leadership of Chancellor Mark Nordenberg, Jerry Cochran and Steve Pederson have placed the University of Pittsburgh among the best academic and athletic institutions in the country. In particular, the ACC is arguably the best baseball conference in the NCAA and it will be a great challenge for us. I have a tremendous deal of respect for my colleagues and friends in the Big East and very much look forward to being a part of a new chapter of Pitt Baseball in the ACC,” said Jordano. George Washington gets a New Home

GW baseball’s home field in Arlington, Va., will be getting a major facelift before the start of the Colonials’ season.

Baseball Field #6 at Barcroft Park, a 65-acre park at 4200 South Four Mile Run Drive, will receive new turf, stadium seating and other amenities through a partnership between GW and the Arlington County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department (PRCR). Read the rest of this entry »
