Nebraska sophomore LHP Logan Ehlers has left the Huskers baseball program today. Ehlers was suspended last season for the first 34 games last season after having an advisor representing him during negotiations in the 2010 MLB Draft with the Toronto Blue Jays. Ehlers ended up appearing in seven games in 2011 going 1-3 with a 4.30 ERA and had 20 strikeouts in 29.1 innings pitched.

“We wish Logan nothing but the best of luck in the future,” Nebraska head coach Darin Erstad said. “We will continue to support him in any way we can.”

We will have more on the situation in the coming days.

What does this mean for Ehlers possible pro career? Does he sign an independent deal and then enter 2012 draft?

Ehlers will likely transfer to a JC and be eligible in the 2012 MLB Draft.
