NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Yale University Athletic Department announced Wednesday that it has promoted Tucker Frawley to Associate Head Coach of the baseball team after serving four successful seasons as an assistant coach under Head Coach John Stuper.

“I’m incredibly honored by the recent vote of confidence given to me by Coach Stuper and the Yale Athletic Department,” Frawley said. “As a New Haven native, being able to represent Yale University and its baseball program is nothing short of a dream come true and I will continue to do all I can to support current and future ballplayers, as well as our alumni.”

Frawley, who is entering his fifth season with the program, has been responsible for all recruiting efforts, as well as coaching the hitting corps and the team’s defense. During the previous four seasons under Frawley’s tutelage, the Bulldogs have seen 16 players earn All-Ivy recognition, including the 2011 Ivy League Player of the Year Trey Rallis, just the third Ivy League Player of the Year award in Yale’s history and the first since 2006.

In 2010, Frawley helped lead Yale to one of the most productive offensive seasons in the program’s 145-year history. The Bulldogs hit .323 as a team (second all-time) and broke school records for home runs, hits, doubles and total bases. In addition to the team’s offensive achievements, Eli defenders recorded 45 double plays in 44 games — also a school record.

“This is a well-earned promotion,” Stuper said. “Tucker has been a tremendous asset to me and to our program. I couldn’t be happier for him.”

A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, Frawley closed out his collegiate playing career as the school’s all-time leader in career hits in 2006. He was a three-time All-Patriot League selection at second base for the Crusaders, including a junior season in which he hit .409, ranking him 17th nationally. He is a three-time Hop Riopel Award recipient, an award given to the Crusaders’ most valuable player, making him one of only two players to earn the distinction on three occasions. Frawley was named All-New England in both 2005 and 2006 and was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Northeast Region team in 2006.

A New Haven native, Frawley signed professional contracts with the Worcester Tornadoes (CanAm League) in 2006 and the Evansville Otters (Frontier League) in 2007 before returning to the Elm City to begin his coaching career.
