BRYAN, Texas -The Texas A&M baseball team gave back to the community Saturday morning by participating in its sixth annual Paint-a-Thon at the home of Jimmy and Jessica Meng on 25th Street in Bryan, Texas.

The Aggies painted and did minor repairs on the exterior of the house as well as created a flower bed in the front yard.

“The Paint-a-Thon is the first team activity we do every year and is something we really look forward to,” Texas A&M baseball head coach Rob Childress said. “It gives our guys a chance to bond with their teammates and do our small part to give back to the Bryan/College Station community that gives us so much support throughout the year.”

Residences that need assistance are found by contacting churches and local organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, The Salvation Army and Elder Aid. The team’s first event was held in 2006 at the College Station home of Mr. Al Bradley. In 2007, the Paint-a-Thon took place at the Bryan residence of Mr. James Nichols and the 2008 event was also held in Bryan at the home of Ms. Dorothy Lockett.

In 2009, the Aggies visited the home of Ms. Mary Weir in College Station to paint the exterior of her house, clear brush and install a new front garden and stone walkway. Last fall, the team spent time at the home of Ms. Lisa Ford on Mockingbird Road in Bryan where it painted and did minor repairs on the exterior of the house as well as created a flower bed in the front and a stone walkway in the back yard.
